Discrimination is when someone has a bias opinion on a specific crowd of people due to their race, sex, religion, or order of rank. This basically goes hand in hand with the phrase judging a book by its cover meaning the person with the negative opinion will not give the other individual a fair chance for the reason being they are being stereotypical and not thinking of the other person’s talent, or character. A modern day example of discrimination would be if a male employer were to compensate a female employee a lower pay due to her gender. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Charges of workplace discrimination is said to be at an all time high. During the 2015 fiscal year the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity released information that claims there were more than 89,000 charges filed for workplace discrimination. One of the top ten charges is said to be retaliation, which had an estimate 39,757 cases in 2015, which is 44.5 percent of all charges filed. Retaliation is said to be in violation of the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, For the purpose of this research paper I will provide the understanding of both Acts, while also taking a case that deals with to provide the basis of the case, the findings, and the outcome of the charges.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects classes from jobs discriminating against them based on their race, color, national origin, sex, and religion. It is unlawful for an employer to refuse to hire or to fire an individual because of their class. Title VII provided employment equality for minority people seeking jobs. The EEOC recognized certain classes that could not be discriminated against. The racial group includes, African American, Asian, Caucasian, Native American, and a Pacific Islander. Closely connected with racial discrimination is discrimination against someone’s color. “Color refers to the color or complexion of a person’s skin” (651, Cheeseman). Racial and color discrimination go against Title VII.

Discrimination is the act of someone treating another unfairly, unequal, or less favorably because of their race, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. Discrimination affects people and can occur in many places. Discrimination happened during the civil war and made it hard to live through that time.

Abstract- Racial discrimination happens all the time and most of us are unaware of it. The most common place for this to happen is in the workplace. Now people can be discriminated against because of their race, religion, or any other numerous things. Also, discrimination can occur during the job interview or even after you got the job. This paper will shoe the effects of racial discrimination and how it can be prevented. In addition there are some very important laws that deal specifically with discrimination, like the NAACP or Affirmative Action. These both will be discussed.

Women are one of the most groups being discriminated against today. They try very hard to fit in and be successful in their careers. Discrimination against women is found in many workplaces. Some managers try to fix this problem, but others just ignore it. Companies that pretend that gender discrimination doesn’t exist are usually the ones that get sued for it more often. Other companies try to avoid law suits by dealing with gender discrimination and resolving conflicts before it gets to the law suits.
