Dove Tremain Rough Draft Dove is a fascinating character in the book Johnny Tremain. Dove has some great traits and some not so great traits that he and I have in common. For example, Dove enjoys sleeping in, and so do I. Even though Dove is an amazing character, we are not identical, and have many differences. Dove and I both like sleeping in, but I do not get mad at people for waking me up. With Dove being a great character in this book, I do have some traits in common with him. For one, he and I don't like Johnny. I think he is mean and way too prideful, and Dove agrees. We don't like being bossed around and don't like being near people who are bossy or are bossing other people around. When Johnny always tells Dove to “look sharp,”

This is why all of his relationships until Johnny meets Rab are fake. His relationship with Dove was fake. He and Dove are almost forced to pretend they like each other. Because Johnny has such a big internal problem, he doesn’t know how to be a good person, which is why the conflict starts very early in the novel.

In Jane Eyre, the classic novel by Charlotte Brontë, the character St. John (pronounced Sinjin) represents the easy way out of things in life. St. John is a clergyman that takes in Jane when he finds her at his doorstep, close to death. He eventually asks her to marry him and to go to India as a missionary with him. St. John represents the easy way out of things because he is the perfect suitor for Jane. He is young, only 29 years old, while Mr. Rochester is almost old enough to be Jane’s father. Jane describes St. John as “a handsome man: tall, fair, with blue eyes, and a Grecian profile” (Brontë 454), and his manners as “polished, calm, and gentlemanlike” (Brontë 454). In the book the Glass Castle it seems like the author Jeannette Walls is the only one in the family that still has hope and faith in her father. On page 79 the Father tells Jeanette, “There are times when I think that you’re the only one around who still has faith in me”(Walls 79). When I read this line I noticed that the dad is very focused on his mission to find gold even though he might know that his family might be mad at him because he isn’t making any money because he quit his job. Also this quote is important because it shows that the Father has trust in Jeannette and he thinks that she is the only one that is truthful and agrees with him all the time, unlike the rest of the family how they have kind of lost hope on his big idea that

At times there are people who will say their belief is one thing, when in reality it is another just to avoid conflict within a community. An example that portrayed this in the book also included the Cunningham’s. Walter Cunningham Sr., was known as a very hard worker. He would never receive something if he wasn’t sure he’d be able to pay it back, he’d pay whomever it was with whatever he had, which is why he and his family were respected. In chapter fifteen, there was a mob of people who were hanging out by the jail, they were going to lynch Tom Robinson for the act of assault he supposedly committed against Mayella Ewell. Jem and Scout, being children and full of curiosity decided to follow Atticus to where he was going, which was this location, in front of the jail with this mob of
Walter Cunningham is a student in Scout's class at school who is extremely poor, so poor that he cannot afford his ow shoes. The text states in chapter 2, page 25, "Walter's face told everybody in the first grade he had hookworms. His absence of shoes told us how he got them. People caught hookworms by going barefooted in barnyards and hog wallows. " This shows that Walter cannot afford luxuries such as having shoes on your feet or clean clothes on your back.

At the beginning of the book “To Kill A Mockingbird”, the children (Scout, Jem, Dill, etc.) think that Mr. Avery is just some mean old guy that walks around the streets of Maycomb. But, really Mr. Avery has a nice/caring side to him. On page 65 of “To Kill A Mockingbird” it says, “ Mr. Avery said it was written on the Rosetta Stone that when children disobeyed their parents, smoked cigarettes and made war on each other, the seasons would change... “ (Lee, 65). This quote is showing that the children think that what Mr. Avery tells them is true. They think that while he is sitting on his porch that he is actually watching them. “ Then Mr. Avery’s face appeared in an upstairs window. He pushed a
