Dr. Harold Shipman's weapon of choice would be a lethal amount of Heroine. (Gunn, 2010). At first, I was confused as to whether the syringe was the murder weapon of choice but the syringe is not what killed the victims, it was the drug in the syringe. What allowed him to go so long without being detected is a mixture of several different factors. Because so many people in the community respected him as a doctor they didn't question his methods when he told them that they needed an injection. He was very popular with patients and would attend to a patient's needs immediately. He also visited the patients at their residence. This ensured him the privacy that he needed to do whatever he felt necessary with them. Another reason is that because
Dr. William Bass is considered to be the Leonardo da Vinci in the field of forensic anthropology. Famous for creating the Anthropology Research Facility, to the majority of us known as the Body Farm, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Born in Staunton, Virginia, Bass received a BA in psychology from the University of Virginia in 1951, an MS in anthropology from the University of Kentucky in 1956. Thus, half a decade he received his PhD in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1961. Originally the thought of anthropology didn’t cross Bass it was until his junior year of college is when he changed majors to anthropology thanks to his mentor Dr. Charlie Snow, who introduced him out on his own forensic case to analyze a corpse
The British doctor, Dr. Harold “Dr. Death” Shipman was a silent killer. The law enforcement and attorneys must have evidence to convict any person in a court of law. Some of the key factors in this case appear to be circumstantial evidence and there was no forensic evidence presented. The first factor is that Harold Shipman was admitted for psychiatric treatment and a drug conviction in 1976 and the General Medical Council was aware of this serious issue. Yet, they allowed him to continue to practice without any documentation being filed, so they say, and no monitoring was implemented for Harold. Dr. Shipman established a pattern in which all of the victims were injected with morphine/heroin as a result of the coroner’s reporting.
Every Sunday my mother would force me into my church dress with the itchy lace, and white ankle-socks with the big, puff bow. We would walk into St. John A.M.E. Church and sit in age-old pews, singing Negro Spirituals that I had not yet learned to appreciate. Growing up, church consisted of sermons, praise, and family. For years I would automatically participate in the church activities and youth-group service projects, taking the many lectures about education a grain of salt. However, I never understood the true meaning of service and the importance of education until I learned about the history of Huntsville, Alabama. The founder of St. John African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, and the founder of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU), William Hooper Councill, truly exemplified what it meant to serve his community.

The literature and material that has arisen because of Steve Bartman’s life does little to tell of who he is. Bartman repeatedly declined to speak, even when it would be lucrative for himself. The infamous Steve Bartman incident occurred on October 14, 2003 with the Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. He almost caught a foul ball that controversially might have been caught by outfielder Moisés Alou and turned the tide of the game they lost 8-3. The outpouring of blame and thrown objects forced Bartman, an avid Cubs fan, to leave, and even to sequester himself in his house for protection. This has raised issues related to
Anson Jones was an important part of the annexation of Texas. Without the help of Anson, it wouldn’t have been possible for Texas to be annexed to the U.S.
In Jim’s early life he was born in Logan County, Kentucky in April of 1796. When Jim was six years old his family moved to Bayou Boeuf, Louisiana in 1802. In Louisiana, he developed the spirit of adventure. His usual hobby was wrestling alligators and just exploring around the areas he lived by. In 1812 he enlisted in the Louisiana militia after the start of the war in 1812 against the British but he was too late to see any action. Soon he was back in the Louisiana selling timber. But with the money that he earned he bought slaves. Jim later met Jean Lafitte, who was a gulf coast pirate who was involved with illegal slave smuggling. Jim’s brothers bought smuggled slaves and said that they found them and kept the money when they were sold at
John M. Stephen was born in Missouri in 1814 and moved to Texas in 1831 with his family, he served during the Texas Revolution and was paid 24 dollars for his service. He married Maranda E. Walker in 1837 in Washington County, Texas by his bride's uncle, Gideon Walker. Stephen received a land grant for his military service and in 1854 he moved a black family to the post oak grove, now Stephenville, to open a store to trade with the Indians for honey, hides, and buffalo hams. The builder of this seventeen room Greek revival mansion was Stephen S. Speakman. In the early 1840s, the elderly Speakman fell in love with a much younger woman, Sarah Bush, whose father owned a slave-holding plantation in Kentucky. Upon asking her hand in marriage, his bride-to-be refused to marry him unless he built her a southern plantation-style mansion. In 1845, with the use of his father-in-law’s slaves, Speakman erected his mansion on a five hundred acre plot next to Loughery Creek with every brick baked on site (Historical Marker Project).

Very few Henry County High School athletes go to a big-athletic Division 1 college. An even smaller list went to play pro. There has only been one that has won a championship in the pro leagues. That man is John Lewis Hudson. John was born in Memphis, Tennessee but he grew up in Henry County, where he played football. He was recruited by many colleges. He ended up choosing Auburn, where he would start for 3 years. John said, “I liked Coach Dye and it was a small town. I liked that it was a small town.” He was then drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and also played for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.

CORNING (WENY) - Have you ever thought about what you'd do if put in that situation? Between 2000 and 2013, more than a thousand people in the United States were killed or wounded from an active shooter situation. When the San Bernadino shooting happened last year, the shooter killed seven people in one minute. It took the police about four minutes to arrive on scene. Local retired state Police officer Tom Huffman says it's the surrounding public who are the real first responders, which is why it's our job to know how to respond to an active shooter situation.
