Using Dr. Jekyll’s arduous experience as a prime example, the novella shows how the abuse of drugs can alter a person mentally and physically. Drugs can completely flip a person’s personality to where they act as a different person, like Dr. Jekyll when he is Mr. Hyde. Pharmaceutical overuse can cause various shifts in personality, such as mood swings, anxiety, aggression, and depression, which can negatively affect a person’s life.
