Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodor Geisel, had a humble beginning in the early twentieth century. Dr. Seuss grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts and learned to draw at his local zoo. This began his creative thinking and unique drawing style. Dr. Seuss used his wild imagination and innovative art style to create many classic children’s books. Dr. Seuss was a highly successful author that forever changed children’s books and had a profound impact on many children around the world.
Dr. Seuss received his education from Dartmouth College and the Lincoln College of Oxford. While attending Dartmouth College, Dr. Seuss worked as an editor for a humor magazine where his artistic style and creative characters first appeared. He studied English, but …show more content…

Seuss wrote two books that were quite different from all the others. His last novels focused less on being for children and were made for people of all ages. One book titled You’re Only Old Once which focused on the new things Dr. Seuss experienced and dealt with as an old man. One common theme of these final two books was a much darker tone and a more mature story. Dr. Seuss held pride in these last two books because he could finally consider himself an author instead of just a children’s author (Contemporary Authors).
Dr. Seuss greatly impacted children’s books. He changed the way that children’s books are written and illustrated with his original style. Many people consider Dr. Seuss’s unique style to be one of his greatest achievements (“Contemporary Authors”). Before Dr. Seuss’s books, children’s books were very bland and uncreative.
