Drake's OVO Fest wrapped tonight, and the Toronto rapper wasted no time going after Meek Mill. Drake opened his set with a performance of "Back To Back," which is his second diss record aimed at Mill. While the song played, a big screen displayed several memes of Mill, one of which showed the rapper wearing a wedding dress, while his girlfriend Nicki Minaj wore a tuxedo. It doesn't seem like Drake has any intention of letting this beef die down, and the rapper let Mill know that he won't tolerate any disrespect. "You did it to yourself boy. I won't let nobody disrespect my city or what I stand for," Drake proclaimed. The line made the Toronto audience go crazy, while they chanted "f**k Meek Mill." Mill has yet to respond to Drake's performance, but the Toronto legend threatened Mill with a "3 Peat" if Mill decides to drop another diss song. …show more content…

The photo shows Drake and West laughing with their mouths wide open with the caption,"Incredible night for the city! 6th Annual in the books. Thank you," Drake wrote. OVO Fest began on August 1st in Canada, and it showcased special appearances by J. Cole, Big Sean, YG, Jeremih, and actor/comedian Kevin
Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, commonly known as PARTYNEXTDOOR, was born on July 3, 1993 in Mississauga, Canada. His sound is "a fractured blend of minimal hip-hop and R&B that has drawn natural comparisons to fellow Canadians Drake and the Weekend”. Drake discovered the artist and signed him to OVO Sound Records. PND released his self-titled mixtape with the label on July 1, 2013. The album peaked at number 34 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for the week ending July 20. On August 26, 2013, PARTYNEXTDOOR released his first single, Over Here ft. Drake. The song made its impact on radio and charts for that week. PARTYNEXTDOOR released his debut studio album, PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO, on July 29, 2014. The Drake/Meek Mill beef has gone from the tweets to the beats. In response to Meek Mill’s recent Twitter attacks on Drake and his lyrical authenticity, Drake retaliated with not one, but two diss tracks within the past week. Both tracks, titled “Charged Up” and “Back to Back”, defend against Meek’s claim that the Toronto-born rapper recruited Atlanta rapper, Quentin Miller, to ghost write Drake’s lyrics for Meek’s single, R.I.C.O. (feat. Drake). The back-to-back tracks were, indeed, charged, as Drake went in on Meek, calling the 28-year-old rapper a charity case and even suggesting that he plays the wifey in his relationship to Young Money label-mate, Nicki Minaj. After Drizzy metaphorically dropped the mic, Meek finally picked it up and came back with a diss track of his own titled “Wanna Know”, first heard Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex's show last Thursday.
McLune also believes,“many hip-hop rappers are sexist and materialistic singers”(222), and not many rappers sing about equality and respect between the sexes. Even female rapper’s follow in the male rappers footsteps of disrespecting black women. Female rappers follow this path to keep from being “targeted, slandered, and ignored”(223). Female rappers who take a stance against the norm risk being called “bitch, a ho-or worse, a dyke.” McLune states that she wants the sexism to stop and until it does hip-hop will fail. According to McLune, Kevin Powell excuses sexism because of poverty. Experience has shown us that any man, rich or poor, can be sexist regarding women. By allowing the behavior to continue black women will always be the victim.
I am very thankful to have learned about #pitmad created by Brenda Drake because it opened the door for me to look into more twitter pitch opportunities. If you are like me and are unable to attend a lot of the writing conferences and workshops because they are usually held in larger cities, then it can be tough. But thanks to social media there are growing opportunities.
Kanye West has proven himself over time that he is much more than just a producer. With each new album he releases, he constantly pushes the boundaries of music influencing artist across all genres. Kanye has an ever evolving sound that changes almost year to year. Kanye West’s Yeezus album is an album that takes a much darker and more minimalist turn in his discography. This approach to music makes Yeezus a much harder album to listen through because it is not filled with nice, polished sounds. Having the album made this way makes us look over what the message of a song and the album are. Among many rough songs one the most popular on the album was Blood on the Leaves. Blood on the Leaves samples from another song called Strange Fruit sung by Nina Simone which is a very political song talking about gruesome lynchings that happened before and at the turn of the century. With help from the sample, West uses the pain of lynching and drug abuse to compare with the break ups he goes through.
El Paso best defines itself as the truest wafer of Wild West. Its streets are so ancient that they have witnessed the existence of the likes of Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp and other lawless times. This is the same place where the unfortunate “Four Dead in Five Seconds” shootout occurred. However, these are not the events that have put El Paso in the limelight but it is the blending of culture and traditions that take place in the city. After all, it is the meeting point of New Mexico and Old Mexico. Annually the city holds the Neon Desert Music Festival and Sun City Music Festival each with over forty music artists from the dominions of soft and hard rocks, hip hop, RnB and blues and other captivating performances (Molinar). But the festival that is awaited with a lot of expectation is the Neon Desert Music Festival. So what is so captivating about the Neon Desert Music Festival that makes tens of thousands of feet pound

Their performance marks the first time that Madonna has appeared onstage at Coachella since 2006. In this song, Drake responds to Jay Z’s comments on him that he is not good enough to compare with Jay Z. Instead of directly answering the questions, Drake says that there is no way to compare us now because he is only 29 and much younger than Jay Z, so only time can tell the answer. It sounds like that Drake wants to shake hand with Jay Z and wait together for him to reach Jay Z’s age today, then he will accept the result no matter what happens. Thus, it shows Drake’s sportsmanship of respecting to the opponent and the final

The W.C. Handy music festival is an event in which almost the entire northwest side of Alabama celebrates the past heritage of Shoals area music, and also the future of Shoals music for an entire week. Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area (2016) states that the festival involves over 200 events within the range of four counties and attracts about 150,000 people to the shoals area, providing a significant boost for local businesses and artists. For my Snapchat I decided to go for a more somber aesthetic. My reasoning was that with most of the MTV Snapchat features, they are very bright colours and moving parts. Thus, to have a more muted colour palette and with a much stiller animation, would make it contrast more with the other stories and would create a juxtaposition. Hopefully leading to more people being curious and swiping up to learn more. The decision with the text was that it was a play on “Wake up, Mr. West”, the first track on the “Late Registration” album and a running motif through Kanye's early work. It also shows support for Kanye West in the hospital.
Not long ago Eminem was in court for gun charges. He hit somebody over the head with a gun because he was hitting on his wife, Kim Mathers. Eminem was fined thousands of dollars, put on a good behaviour bond and monthly drug tests. So to stay out of trouble Eminem gathered a few of his unsigned rapper friends to create a rap group. This forming D12 a.k.a. Dirty Dozen. Eminem and D12 recently released a single called “S**t On You.” This song is about the critics continuously harassing Eminem about him and his lyrics. Eminem explains he is sick of it and doesn’t care who you are or who you know he will s**t on you.
There are some things in life that you can look back later on and laugh but others that you will forever cringe at the thought at. College has provided me with both but it also caused “Rapper’s Delight” to chase me through life like it’s a prison warden and I’m a recently escaped convict.
