The importance of dreams in Of Mice and Men is without their dreams they wouldn't have any reason to keep pushing towards achieving their dreams. If everybody didn't have their personal dreams that pushed them, then we would get nowhere in technology and society and our growth would decay away instead of increasing. Some people use dreams as their reason to live and others as a bonus to their current lifestyle. Some people set their goals too high for them to reach and grow, but not where they wanted to see themselves and then become depressed and don't make high goals. The dream in Of Mice and Men that they mainly emphasized was Lennie and Georges. Others also had dreams of their own. For example Curly's wife, she wanted to be an actress and be on shows with the stars and eat fancy in a nice house. That dream was destroyed when her family would not let her do anything with others. She became depressed and then, later on, died from Lennie's muscular hands. Crooks dream was to be treated equally, but he was born African-American, on top of that he had an …show more content…

Other people like Curly's wife think about where they could have been if they just chased their dream and then feel like they lost their only ticket and weep in their self-pity. Setting dreams or goals high is important because if you make your goal too easy then it will be easy and almost pointless and you won't push yourself. On the other hand, if you set your goals too hard to reach, then you might not reach them, and like Curly's wife, you will be in self-pity. Lennie and George had troubles in their journey like with the little girl, having to lose jobs and the situation with Curly's wife. Without them pursuing their goal they would have given up on the first hindrance, but they kept their goal in mind and pushed
