It is against the law to drive while being intoxicated, so why do millions of people believe this to be acceptable? Millions of families in our world today are struggling with pain from the loss of a loved one. Over half of these families have lost their loved ones to a drunk driver. As a result of what alcohol does to the body, impaired drivers are unable to drive and are putting the other drivers lives on the line. When making the judgment on whether or not to drive while being impaired, these people are unable to think through all of the possible outcomes. These people do not think about all of the families they are breaking due to their decision to drive drunk, “A total of 2,364 youths, aged 15-20 died in alcohol-related crashes in 1993"(Statistics of impaired driving, par.1) Parents now have to schedule there son or daughters funeral because of someone else’s decision. Families are becoming emotionally torn apart because of this incident. The driver could have walked home, they could have had a designated a sober driver, or they could have taken a taxi home.
