The life of Edgar Allan Poe can best be described as full of darkness with bright moments at times, yet he has some good ideas and good writing skills. Edgar Allan Poe is a good writer of stories and poems. His writings are about love and death. Poe has good ideas and great writing, but his stories and poems always end in darkness. Poe can be described as a great writer with deep and dark subjects. He uses symbolism and fairytale archetypes to create a dark mood that reveals a theme that you can not escape death. Poe uses symbolism in his writing because it gives us readers an image, and idea of what he is talking about and what is going on. For example, in paragraph four he says “It was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness of carnival season.” He uses symbolism in his poems and articles to keep the readers entertained. He uses symbolism to make his stories and poems better as in using more detail and giving the reader a visual image. Fairytale is in Annabel Lee and The Bells, Poe starts off the poem Annabel Lee by saying “It was many and many a year ago, in a kingdom by the sea”. He uses fairytale to catch the reader's attention and wanting to read more. Using fairy tales also gives off a happy tone, which also leads readers to want to read more. Also, Poe uses fairytale in the story “The Bells” when he says, “Hear the sledges with the bells-silver bells! What a word of merriment their melody foretells.” He uses fairytale to make his stories and poems bright and happy, for the most part.
