Loving Ms. Massey English 4/20/2017 TEENS TEXTING AND DRIVING Texting and Driving is very dangerous many people die because of being distracted while driving. “Texting demographics” topics facts that the average teen male sends about 20 text a day. Texting and driving has received much attention people are dying everyday due to distracted drivers. This will be avoided if people pay more attention and just stay off their phone while on the road. The average teen male send about 20 text per day. While a female will pays much more attention to her phone. People love to just play around with their phone in situation that they shouldn’t. But cell phones are not the only device take the attention away from the road like apple watches, ipods, ipads, and even laptops. All of those can be very risky when you use them in a car while one the road. So if you see a driver with a device in their hand while they are on the road get them to put the device up until you reached their place. You could be saving a life just because you convince them to put their phone up. The number of distracted driving injuries totaled a half million in 2009. The organization cites that about 5,000 deaths happened in 2009 due to distracted driving. These deaths accounted for 16 percent of traffic deaths for 2009. It was seriously bad 2009 when it came to distracted drivers. States without texting ban signs Arizona, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. But i think all states should have them just for safety. Over 8 people are killed and 1,161 are injured daily in incidents reported as distraction-affected crashes in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2015, there were 3,477 people killed and an estimated additional 391,000 people injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.
