The Mayans and the Egyptians are considered to be one of the most successful empires in the history of the world. The Mayan empire began in the 1800 AD but they are noticed for their achievements during 250-900 A.D. This was their golden age, but they began to decline afterwards for unknown reasons;yet they did not vanish out of existence completely. They were still around when the Spaniards came to the Americas, but they were not a big empire like they once were at the time. The Mayans lived on the Yucatan peninsula which is located in southern Mexico. The Egyptians on the other hand began their empire around 3000 B.C when Narmer, the king of upper Egypt, united lower and upper Egypt. The Egyptian empire got taken over by the Romans in 30 B.C with the last pharaoh being Cleopatra who committed suicide with Mark Antony, a Roman politician, to avoid being captured. Yet even being years apart and hundreds of miles away, both the Mayans and the Egyptians were fairly similar in many aspects such as environment, government, and architecture but they also have some differences as well.
The Mayans and Egyptians had some similarities when it comes to their environment, yet they have one big difference. One big difference is that the

The Mayans also made huge pyramids but the design and purpose was different compared to the Egyptians. In Egypt, the pyramids were used as a burial ground for pharaohs. Most Egyptian pyramids were made out limestone and had flat sides which made it extremely hard to climb. Mayan pyramids were not used as a cemetery but instead a place of worship to the gods. Their pyramids were made out of rubble, limestone, and adobe bricks.Instead of having flat side like the Egyptians made them, they made step pyramids with the top of the pyramid being flat. There would be stairs leading up to the top where there was a temple to make human or animal
The Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas are all big groups of people that used have roamed the lands of earth. They all have a specific location, time period, capital, economy, religion, social system, government and technology. First we are going to start with the 3 group’s location, time periods, and the capitals. The Maya’s location is in southern Mexico. For example; Belize,
Two Mayan cities, the Uxmal and the Mayapan. The Mann lived in Mexico. They built pyramids, Sort of lick the Egyptians. But, the Mayans were not all the same.
The whole world changed in 3500 BCE when the first civilizations emerged in river valleys. Egypt and Mesopotamia were one of the very first two that came about and they were highly successful and impacted the future tremendously. These two civilizations were located many miles apart yet somehow found a way to be so similar but so different. An illustration of this is how differently they thought of their Gods, Egypt worshipped them while Mesopotamia feared them but they were similar in a way that they were both polytheistic and believed in animism. Another example is how they ran their governments, Egypt had a strong united front while Mesopotamia had separate
Egyptians and Mayans live in different countries but have many similarities and differences. Egyptians started around 3150 B.C and had its highest peak at 30 B.C. Egypt is located around the Nile River. Egypt is known for the pyramids. Mayans started around 200 A.D and reach its peak on 900 A.D. The Mayans were located around Central America and were known for the calendars they make. But what were the things they have and don’t have in common even though they are in two separate continents?
In history we the people have found to realize that the Maya, Aztec, and Inca culture was one of the most incredible findings of their accomplishments. The Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations were really smart in topics of engineering, writing, agriculture and astronomy. Also all three had their beliefs, and good with agriculture. All three cultures used great technologies in their agriculture like slash and burn, terrace farming. They all hunted for religion, they had a huge belief with the people spread throughout each region. They all had a lot of interest in the use of chocolate in the region, and cultivation. They all were pretty much the same just different beliefs.
Did you know that while the mayan, egyptian and romans seem so different they’re actually similar in many ways. From studies scientists have seen that the government between rome and egypt was almost the same and the fall of all three kingdoms have their similarities. Seeing it now there are many similarities between these three civilizations.
While both Mesopotamia and Egypt have clear similarities on their views on religion, Mesopotamia struggled with their geography due to the high flooding that surrounded the area and on their government due to the harsh laws and rules, while Egypt triumphed in their culture and geography.
The priestly class lived in the cities, while the general population lived away in small farming villages. The priests would carry out daily religious duties, particularly sacrifices, and the peasants would gather periodically for religious ceremonies and festivals. They built the ceremonial centers in a specific design for religious practices. They constructed tall pyramid temples, warren-like single story palaces, and a ball court that was surrounded by a broad central plaza. The architectural features of the Mayan pyramids include towering roofs, corbel vaults, and elaborate embellishment with stucco reliefs (Palfrey 2). It is amazing to imagine the detail that the Mayans were able to create in their architecture with only primitive tools. For the Mayans, science and religion were linked. Time was extremely important and their agriculture and religious ceremonies required a system that could record time.
The Mesopotamian and Egyptian empires in ancient times are about as similar as they are different in terms of geographic conditions. This means they have just as many similarities as they do differences. Let’s start with geographic conditions that were beneficial to both. Egypt and Mesopotamia both had rivers close enough to help with farming. These rivers were also useful for trade and transport. One geographic condition that made growing and maintaining ancient civilizations difficult for both the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians was flooding. Both groups solved this issue by creating dikes and irrigation systems. Between the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians, differences obviously occurred. For example, the Egyptians did not need to fear being
The Maya, Aztec and Inca civilizations all have similarities and differences. The topics that will be compared and contrasted are economy, religion, social system, government, and technology. The Maya civilization was spread out. They lived in Mesoamerica, Mexico, South America, Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, Guatemala, and El Salvador. There were three main time periods for the Mayans. The preclassic period went on from BCE to 250 CE. The postclassic period went on from the 900s to the 1500s. The classic period went on from 250 A.D. to 900 CE. The classic period was the last of the Mayan civilization. The Aztec and Inca did not have any time periods.
Thesis: Unlike the Han and Roman empires, the Mayans’ civilization should not be considered an empire because they lacked centralized, state-level governments, had an unstable and violent culture, and declined more from environmental issues than social issues.
Also buildings in both cultures have a lot in common in their visual characteristics they are different structures. Egyptian pyramids originally had smooth equal sides meeting on the top in the perfect apex. Mayan pyramids look like one huge stairway towards the sky. It reminds of earliest Egyptian structures-mastabas, where one layer of stones was put onto another creating the effect of pyramid. Also The Tikal Temple on Great Plaza was originally plastered white. Then the roof comb was painted with reds, blues, and other colors to accent the different areas of sculptural decoration. These roof combs were like giant billboards, with immense portrayals of the enthroned king, larger then life size (Cities pars.3). Egyptians never colored their religious structures. As well as in Egyptian pyramids, the stone used to construct Mayan pyramids is local limestone, obtained from nearby quarries. The ancient Maya had no stone tools but limestone is soft enough that the Maya could utilize
After reading about Maya,Aztec, and Inca civilizations;I found that they were important to our past and present life. And in some ways have developed our culture and how we view things. From creating accurate calendars to making complex heiroglyphic.
The Mayans and Egyptians had religion, technology, and pyramids that were similar but at
Some things that they both were similar in were that they both built pyramids. Both counties used limestone to make similar looking pyramid. Another large thing that both the Egyptians and the Mayans have in common is that they both have made a very similar calendar. Both calendars have 365 days in a year and also 5 days left over. These days are known for either holidays or unknown days.
