Hello friend! I heard that you were going on vacation to my home town of Elizabethtown Kentucky. I would be delighted to give you some pointers on two of my favorite things to do when I’m in town. Often called E-town, our little slice of heaven is home to a lot of neat things to do. We have horse races, a country jamboree, caverns, and more. Nevertheless, I know that you only have a few days to spend there so I will tell you about my favorites. Located in the heart of Elizabethtown, is the town square. It hosts countless restaurants as well as awesome local stores, but is most known for the State Theatre. Originally opening as a movie house in 1942, it has now been fully restored to its former glory. You can watch movies, comedy shows, and
“The best things in life are the people we love the places we’ve been…. And the memories we’ve made along the way.” by Unknown. 2017 started off terrible but then soon got better from a little help from God. My family found out we won a trip to Hawaii. My parents were deciding whether or not they should take us kids with, my brothers Chris was 18, Matt was 11, Nic was 8, and I was 15. Then my parents talked and the decided that it would be our last family vacation with just our family saying chris went to college the next year and probably will find a girlfriend. Hawaii I know made me look at life a different was saying everything that just happened to me.
When the word “vacation” is mentioned, everyone instantly thinks of a great time. There are no classes, no work, no chores, and most importantly, no worries. However, this isn’t always the case, especially with my family. We decided to set out on an adventure to Virginia Beach this past April. The events that took place were benign but, the trip itself was a little bit of a struggle due to the chain of unpredictable events.
In "Canada it's time to learn to (truly) take a vacation", Ellen Himefarb argues that Canadians need to learn how to separate work and leisure. She states that Canadians do not know how to relax on vacation and instead of enjoying time off from work, people use that time preparing for work. Vacation is a learned activity and is now dictated by social acceptability rather than pleasure. Now people are now retiring later and although Canada's economy has significantly improved, quality of life has not. I disagree with Himefarb because majority of Canadians do thoroughly enjoy their vacation.
The People’s Bank Theatre, rebuilt after a massive fire in 1917, was opened as the new Hippodrome Theatre in 1919 and claimed its right as a major center of entertainment within the mid-west region of the United States. During the since, the theatre has taken on the title The Colony then only
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
When you look back upon timeless classic comedies, it’s a challenge to pinpoint one specific film and deem it to be the greatest of all-time. Still, a strong case can be made in favor of the original 1983 flick, Vacation – starring the legendary Chevy Chase.
In your poem, “The Vacation,” it is clear who the main characters are in terms of the mother, father and the daughter. We can assume that the mother is a loving caring mother who overtime got physically and mentally abused by the husband. We can also assume that the father is an alcoholic from the line that says “Last night he was drinking something that made him smell like medicine.” We know that the main character is a little girl but we don’t know how old she is or anything about her. In my opinion, I would like to know more about the character in terms of age and a description of what she looks like.
On October 1st, 1971, Walt Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida. I chose this event because I love Disney movies and Disney World. I wanted to know more about Disney and how the fun attraction in Florida came to be. Walt Disney World Resort was the dream of Walt Disney. He wanted to build an entertainment and vacation place like no other. This concept would give tons of people in the Eastern United States an opportunity to have fun and enjoy never before seen ways of entertainment. Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney. The Disney organization is what made Walt Disney's dream come true. Florida was chosen to be Disney World’s destination because the weather would allow Disney World to run all year
The Royal Theatre is located in the centre of Anytown and closed to University town. It is a busy area and two theatres are planning to open recently. There are many touring productions in this theatre and a different production each week covering drama, dance, comedy and music. There is also a pantomime (a
During summer break I went on a few vacations. The first one was a trip to Las Vegas. This was due to a wedding with my cousins. The second vacation being in Iowa for a funeral. Both had some beautiful views.
In Illinois, there isn’t much to see. There also aren’t many places to visit besides Chicago and Springfield. After living in Illinois for so long, those places lose their magical touch of amazement. In case anyone was wondering where we go instead, many of the people I know go to the Wisconsin Dells for a vacation when they’re looking for a place not too far but far enough. Vacations are meant to have fun, no matter how far someone goes from home.
The morning hit, we packed our bags, and we left Las Vegas. Too bad the fun could have never ended but it did and we were headed home. The experience was very significant though because this was the first vacation my brother and I went on with my stepmother and it was the most fun we’ve ever had together. It made us become closer together and get along more. It made me appreciate everything I have because a lot of people can’t always go on vacations such as Las Vegas. I learned a valuable lesson that vacation, to not take everything for granted and live life to the fullest because you don’t know when your last day will be. I hope to go o a vacation like this again like when I went to the Grand Canyon but that another story for a different
Over spring break, I went on a MOVE service trip to Kentucky. I was lucky to be there with an awesome crew of kids, both Saint Michaels students whom I traveled with and students from other colleges with whom we worked. We split into groups and spent five days working on different houses in rural, Appalachian Kentucky. We got to meet many of the local people who lived in the area and talk to them about their lives. I did not expect this trip to really relate to what we were researching for Environmental Justice, but it absolutely did.
Have you ever been to Las Vegas or on vacation with your family ? I have. I do not go on vacation that often the last time we went on vacation was 6 years ago so I bet you can imagine my excitement for this summer. The ride to Las Vegas was about 14 hours I think it was ok though because I enjoy long rides I didn’t sleep the whole ride.
There are certain memories that we have that we can remember like they happened yesterday. Many of those memories that have special meaning to me were of family vacations when I was young growing up with my brothers and sisters. Family memories are important to many of us because they take us back to a time or place that was special. One particular family vacation I remember vividly, and it’s a story I have shared with my kids on many occasions. Over the 40 or more years since that memorable vacation, I still smile and think how lucky I was growing up with a mother and father that did everything to give their kids an unforgettable memory.
