What does it mean to be an Actual hero? Being able to fly? Super human strength? shooting lasers out of your eyes? maybe in fictional comic books yes ,but sadly none of that actually exists. So what does it mean to be a hero in real life? Many people would say someone that helps people in need, someone that changes people’s lives, and does everything they can to make the world a better place. There are a couple people that can be considered a modern hero, but Ellen Degeneres definitely falls under this category for countless of reasons.
Ellen DeGeneres’s career began when she went off to college in New Orleans, Louisiana on 1981 when she was lucky enough to be the emcee on Clyde’s Comedy Club. According to Biography.com’s article “Ellen Degeneres” DeGeneres's older brother, Vance, an actor/comedian and former correspondent for The Daily Show, was long considered the humorous member of the family. But Ellen quickly outgrew her brother and was named Showtime’s “Funniest Person in America”. With all of her humor, generosity sympathy and of course all of her countless little donations to different charities and families every single show. One of her recent acts was creating a PSA Called “Be Kind” which helps fight off Bullying. In 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated her hometown of New Orleans she donated 10 Million dollars to help restore the city with the help of The Ellen Show. She also brings attention to Breast Cancer, On Ellentv.com in “About Ellen Degeneres” it states, DeGeneres served as spokesperson for General Mills' breast cancer awareness initiative, Pink for the Cure, and hosted special episodes of her show to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
