Everyone has their own idea of what a hero is and what a hero does. Most people think that guys like superman and batman are heroes because they have incredible superpowers and they are famous people who receive glory. Many people describe heroes as strong and indestructible people, however, heroes are actually not always famous and they are not always the way that society portrays them. In fact, most heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things and have notable traits for society to follow. Although heroes are mostly overlooked or misinterpreted by many people, a hero is always a courageous, selfless, and persistent person who has the determination to create change for the better.

Her brother, Vance, provided the competitive brother-sister aspect to her wanting to be a comedian. Vance’s success in show business made Ellen want to get out of his shadow of accomplishments. Vance was considered the funny person in their family. Then once, during a public speaking event, DeGeneres found herself frightened by the crowd and used humor to get through the experience. She was a hit, and received offers to do stand-up comedy.
Ellen DeGeneres is a comical genius. She can take the most inane situations and use them to deliver punch lines with impeccable timing and inflection. Her warm and disarming deadpan combined with a quick wit has made her a favorite personality on daytime TV. Ellen’s comedy is based on intelligent observation rather than mean-spirited attack or scatological filler. The way she keeps us laughing, crying, and of course dancing, helps us live lighter, happier, better lives. So it’s a little preposterous that some are labeling her a racist for a recently tweeted meme about Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt.
Ellen Degeneres always had a talent for making people laugh. To get through the experience at a public speaking event, when she was frightened by a crowd she used her humor to entertain the audience. “From there she performed in stand-up comedy clubs at colleges and universities. From 1994 to 1998 Ellen Degeneres starred in her own sitcom called Ellen. “They originally called it these friends of mine in 1993, but was renamed in 1994. This summer I’ve experienced something unusual and I loved it! I worked at a waterpark as a lifeguard but I wasn’t at the places in the park where you need to rescue people so it was pretty relax, I was outside while talking with the clients. One day, this little 8-year-old girl fainted in her mother’s arms. Her mother was in chock and screaming: ‘’Do something!! I think she’s convulsing!!’’ She was unconscious for let’s say 40 seconds and then she came back and was normal. She was just dehydrated and sleepy because of the extreme heat. It was for me a beautiful experience because it was my first ‘’rescuing’’ and it just went so quickly but there was nothing I could’ve done that I didn’t do!
Oprah Winfrey is an anchorperson, a media mogul, and a magazine publisher. As a child Oprah lived in a divided family. Just like me she also lived with her grandmother for the beginning years of her life. Her parents were not together so they she split time between the two of them. She is a very loving and caring person and loves to help people in anyway that she can. Children have always been a sensitive subject for her since she did not have the best of childhoods. They have a special place in her heart because she can relate to children so she does everything for them out of love. This is something I can relate to and is why I choose to do her.

DeGeneres states to Sarah Palin jokingly, “and maybe it’s because I’m gay that I think we should all be equal,” she countered towards Palin’s argument for a federal ban on same-sex marriage (“About Ellen”). Ellen contributes to various charities, and causes that help with calling for a social action with LGBT members and gay rights. Ellen summarizes that Sarah Palin wanted a federal ban on gay marriage and gay rights (“Slams Sarah Palin”). By Degeneres calling out this political figure, and stating her interpretation through comedic rhetoric, Ellen had called for a social action for the LGBT community and others to help in bringing awareness and legalizing gay marriage. Ellen has confronted numerous political figures (e.g. John McCain, Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, etc.) with her comedic rhetoric to get her argument of gay marriage and gay rights legalization to be brought upfront and center (“Slams Sarah Palin”).
