Former President Thomas Jefferson contributes his luck to all the hard work he has done in this quote. “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” I believe he is saying that the harder you work for what you want in life whether it be in school, work, or home, it will come much easier to you with that hard work that you’ve done, instead of just waiting around for it to happen in some sort of good luck streak you may have one day. Don't waste your life waiting for something to happen go out and work hard for what you want because nothing is going to be handed to you.
Fitting in can be a major challenge for anyone in life. It is hard to stay true to yourself, while also fitting in. In the novel The Other Side of the Island by Allegra Goodman, a young girl named Honor struggled with this major challenge of fitting in. She kept isolating herself from her classmates. Fitting in is also a major theme in the short story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury. The main character Margot is a young girl who was very different than her classmates. She was teased for her differences because she remembered something her classmates didn’t remember, and she can’t let go of this memory. Allegra Goodman and Ray Bradbury both develop the theme of fitting in in their novels;
Aisha testified at trial that the note had been written sometime in early November of 1998, and that the phrase “I’m going to kill” was written in Adnan’s handwriting
Working hard is the best thing a person can do to achieve what they want. There is no person who obtained wealth or what they wanted by not doing anything. “...the actual founder of my line was my grandfather's brother, who came here in fifty-one, sent a substitute to the Civil War, and started the wholesale hardware business that my father carries on
In the novel “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, Huxley revolves the fictional utopia (maybe choose different words because I don’t know what this means) around the concept of human cloning. Although the extreme practices that partook in the novel created a well-oiled functioning utopia, the concept of human cloning is on the brink of ethical infringement. However, there is strong potential for scientific advancements trailing the research and practice of human cloning, such as breeding purposes as seen in “Brave New World.” With successful use of human cloning, practitioners could potentially create humans and or animals with the best abilities of a certain genre known to man. Hypothetically speaking we could eventually have a full basketball
Being very fortunate is vital in life. Frank says, “Denying the importance of luck may actually help people surmount the many obstacles that little almost every path to success” (2). To be fortunate is very great because the person avoided the negative things like hunger and homelessness. In addition,
A Roman poet named Horace once said “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant” Which is a quote that many people can deeply connect with or agree with. Although some people can say this quote is true from experience, many people cannot. I don’t agree wholeheartedly with Horace’s words for a few reasons.
"There is no royal flower-strewn path to success. And if there is, I have not found it - for if I have accomplished anything in life, it is because I have been willing to work hard."—Madame CJ Walker
People don’t tend to work hard, and think things will just be handed to them. That’s not the case in the real world. In a study from jackcanfield.com, Successful people go the extra mile- and they stand out as a result. They get the promotions and the loyal customers. They grow their businesses twice as fast and attract the best employees. They receive financial rewards and job security. Best of all, they go home at night feeling satisfied and bursting with self-confidence”. Some might argue that some people are just not born with that ability to work as hard as others, but I believe once someone really tries their best they can achieve whatever they want to overcome. We can all agree that people who go that extra mile will achieve more than those who tend to take the easy way, in addition people should believe in themselves first. If you don't believe in yourself no one will. According to realmenrealstyle.com, “Going the extra mile is the difference between being average vs being the one of the top performers/athletes/musicians/businessmen in the world”. If you go that extra mile of course there will be times when others will notice. You may even be rewarded for it. A raise, a bonus, or a simple thank
Melinda is baffled about how "There are four hundred other freshmen in here, two hundred female. Plus all the other grades.[,]But he whispers to me.(86) STRESS AND ANXIETY
The quote “adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant” is not only insightful, but also truthful. I thoroughly agree with this quote because it demonstrates the effects of adversity on a person. They must take the challenge and turn it into something they can thrive from. In times of need, people’s skills are put to the test and they come out of that situation stronger than ever. What most don’t realize is that a lot of good comes from adversity, even if it not obvious at first.
Using quotes from the text is an important way to support your ideas. In most papers, I would expect at least 3-4 really strong quotations used to prove your topic. The important word in the last sentence is “prove.” You do NOT use quotations to establish facts from the story. You use quotations to PROVE something.
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”
Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity, a quote from Oprah Winfrey which I agree, there is no such thing as luck but when a person is preparing themselves for an opportunity, endless results can happen. As I am continuing to grow as a woman in today society I have developed myself as a woman that doesn't give up. I had to make a lot of changes in my life because I am mother of two children. I used every opportunity to better myself for my children as well as for our future. In my experience as a mother and provider I had to look at the different opportunities out there for me and my kids, I first started with my job, I asked myself can I work a 2nd shift job while raising them? How much is my worth ? should I settle for just minimum
“Fortune favors the bold.” is a deep and inspirational quote by Virgil, an Ancient Roman poet of the Augustan Period. This quote has a very stirring meaning and shows me the true significance of this saying. The complex message passed through this quote is covered up by words that seem to have no deep meaning. Virgil actually meant that if one is strong enough to try, amazing things can be accomplished. Many are afraid to try because they don’t want to make mistakes. But because of Virgil, I understand why it is better to try than to sit and do nothing because of a foolish fear. I, and many historical figures including Benjamin Franklin, followed this quote, perhaps without even knowing it.
“The harder I work, the luckier I get.” We’ve all heard stories about people who seemed to be the recipients (deserving or not) of incredible luck. They were at a party and heard cocktail chatter about a fantastic job opportunity. They fortuitously knew a guy who knew a guy, etc.
