The world faces many issues, but the most important which will affect people living on this planet is that it is slowly deteriorating. Pollution, excessive greenhouse gases, and the ozone layer depletion are causing the environment to slowly degrade and cause chronic and fatal health issues such as cancer. One of the main ways to help the environment be a better place is by having businesses be more environmentally friendly. Businesses don’t have to put a lot of effort in helping the environment, but instead small changes can make a big difference. Businesses can help the environment by reducing their carbon emissions, reducing carbon capping, reducing pollution, and reducing the amount of greenhouse gasses that are being emitted into the air. Businesses helping the environment could also save money for the company and make the world a better place. Pollution is one of the main reasons that the earth is deteriorating. According to Major Causes of Environmental Destruction by the Green Tumble Editorial Team Today, mentions that “our world is becoming increasingly toxic due to the pollution in our air, water, and land. This not only hurts wildlife and other organisms that live in natural ecosystems, but it effects the people as well. Air pollution can have many environmental impacts, it causes acid rain which is precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids. Acid rain damages tree and causes soils and water bodies to acidify, making the water
There are various types of air pollution contributors in California such as fire generated pollutants and vehicle traffic, which add particulate matter and carbon monoxide into the air we breathe. According to an article by Union of Concerned Scientists (Cars, trucks, and air pollution, 2014) particulate matter is made up of fine particles soot and metal that can pose serious threats to human health when deep in the lungs. Other pollutants emitted from vehicles are: nitrogen oxide which lowers the body’s defense system against respiratory infections such as pneumonia, carbon monoxide which blocks oxygen from reaching vital organs, sulfur dioxide which is emitted by both power plants and vehicles affect children and asthmatics, and hazardous air pollutants (toxics) which are chemicals that are linked to cancer, birth defects and other illnesses (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2014).
Pollution can cause changes in the planet’s energy balance, such as changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat retained by Earth’s atmosphere, variations in the sun’s energy reaching Earth changes in the reflectivity of Earth’s atmosphere and surface. The changes have changed the climate many times which have an effect on humans also. (NRC EPA. 2010) Our planet can is good at reusing waste but humans are producing more than what the Earth can handle. Pollution happened at different stages and it has an impact on all living things including species and humans. Unfortunately, humans are the most polluting species.
Air Pollution today has lead CDC's fight against environmental -related respiratory illness, including asthma. An estimated number of 6.5 million deaths are attributed each year to poor air quality, making this the world's largest threat to human health.According to the World Energy Outlook and the IEA estimate that death due to household air pollution in Africa may decrease by 110,00 to 2040.However, due to economic growth, urbanization and automobile emissions, outdoor air pollution may rise from 300,00 to 450,000 over the same period. Am going to be looking at the causes of air pollution. the problems emerging with air pollution and also how we as a community can help decrease the amount of death rate associated with air pollution.I remember growing up in Africa Air pollution was always a talk about a subject that always comes out because it is really contagious due to the fact that we are breathing bad air that is caused by our human contribution to the environment.Air pollution is considered to be a public health problem, it is responsible for most of our health problems after some research has been conducted in many different parts of the world and regions. According to the Geochemistry and Health paleopathological research suggests that air pollution is a form of smoke, plagued our oldest ancestors.Air pollution has emerged as one of the leading risk factors for stroke worldwide.
When it comes to nature, trees, rivers, the sky, air pollution also affect the environment. Air pollution can harm the ecosystem. “Nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide cause eutrophication and acidification of lakes and streams, damaging ecosystems” (Melamed et al, 2016). This can harm the environment and contribute to the human health problems. We drink water, and water plants with water. Even more particulate matter interact with cloud formation processes and may impact the amount and location of precipitation (Melamed et al, 2016). This is the reason of flooding and water problems.
Water pollution from combined sewer overflow (CSO) into rivers and other waterways has become an increasing problem in the United States. An estimated 850 billion gallons of untreated storm and sewage water are released into our waterways each year. Given that our grey water infrastructures are unable to handle the volume of water entering their systems, a sustainable, eco-friendly solution is needed. A constructed wetland is a type of green infrastructure that can help to solve this problem of CSO. The cost of constructing this green infrastructure is less than that of traditional grey infrastructure. Advantages of the constructed wetland goes beyond improved water quality, to include lower operational costs, an added recreational area, increased habitat which could lead to greater diversity of wildlife. Educating local officials and community members about the benefits and sustainability of the green infrastructure will be vital in initiating the process of creating a wetland.
Did you know that out beautiful ocean is being polluted by 12.7 million tonnes of rubbish each year? Our oceans are being polluted by us, which is unnecessary as we need the water clean because 97% of our water supply is from there. If we continue to keep mistreating it, we will be left with only 3% of water to use in everyday situations like showering and watering the garden. It isn't enough especially with the growth in population. Did you know that 30% of all CO2 commissions is absorbed by the ocean? So, all this proves that our ocean is essential for living. Thankfully, we have two amazing heros —Andrew Turton and Pete Ceginsle— have invented a amazing invention called the Seabin.
Industrial development of the past 200 years has brought immeasurable wealth and prosperity. However, it has also caused unintended eco- logical degradation and pollution (Shrivastava, 1995). Pollution is defined as “the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that causes adverse changes (Khamis, 2017). Pollution is a worldwide problem that affects humans on a day-day basis causing disastrous and deleterious effects that eventually lead to loss of life. Pollution can be of various types; it can be in form of chemical energy, light, heat, noise. These are referred to as pollutants and most are as a result of human activities. The drastic effect of these activities greatly endangers life and has a lasting impact on the sustainability of the environment. This is why the issue of pollution is of utmost importance to every individual as it will affect the quality of life of the human race if its rapid progression is not curtailed.
The global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. The main cause of pollution is the human being. The contamination caused damage not only in animals and plants but also in the same man. In their attempt to progress and have an easier and bearable life has invented and used products that are destroying stability and life on the planet. Some of the major causes of pollution are: Carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning power plants, carbon dioxide emissions from burning gasoline for transportation, the unfortunate causes are pollution of air, water, and soil. Turn this pollution causes illness and death to the flora, fauna, and humans.
Air pollution is due to industrialization. Since countries began to industrialize, the air has been filled with pollutants from car exhausts, energy production, and factories. Air pollution causes major health problems such as respiratory infections, heart disease, lung disease such as asthma, and even cancer. Water pollution causes a shortage of drinking water and it is a sanitation problem. Water pollution goes hand in hand with the destruction of oceans because we pollute the ocean with trash, ship pollution, and oil spills. The destruction of the oceans also involves overfishing. Population growth is one of the bigger environmental problems because it expands the other issues. Population growth increases strain on the environment because we need more resources like food, clean water, and clean air, which causes an overall resource reduction. Weakening of the ozone increases the ultraviolet light that comes through which causes skin cancer, it can affect crops, and it aids
In this article, problems of air pollution and the way that they effect the Chinese community are up for debate. There are major concerns with the rise of air pollution in China, the biggest concern being the fact that there were over 1 million deaths due to air pollution in 2015. Although, the community is trying to find ways to fix the problem; some of the potential solutions may be more harmful to the community in the future. Some citizens feel that cutting jobs with heavy machinery and building cars that do not burn fossil fuels are helping reduce air pollution. Although, decisions like these might increase unemployment rates in the future by taking away jobs in these fields. So, what’s more important? Clean air or a financially stable community and economy?
The world is dying. It is being overrun with human pollution. Nobody notices where the most polluted parts are in the ocean, until they see trash floating upon waves, which then washes onto the shores. Animals get tangled up and cannot escape from human filth. There is no escape for them. There is no way for them to swim freely without getting tangled up. This is why people need to help prevent trash from getting into the oceans. Even if helping prevents trash from entering the ocean cost more money than allowing it to enter the water system, it will prevent ecosystems, environments and their climates from perishing.
Today, it is tough to decide that which is the bigger threat to humanity, terrorism or pollution. Apparently the former seems a bit more dreadful, but statistics reveal that the latter is causing more mayhem in countries like China and India. The monster is so threatening outside that people can’t go out without covering their faces, and now it is making people breathless even inside their houses. This crude & unkind pollution is indiscriminately attacking the human race. According to a recent report of Lancet medical journal, pollution had claimed 2.5 million lives (approx) in India in the year 2015, highest numbers of deaths due to pollution in the world. The condition is getting more and more severe day by day, toxin content is already above the threshold limit in all the metros of India, and Delhi is on the top of the list with 600+ µg/m3 particulate matter level. Pollution is causing panic not just outside the doors, but also inside the living and working spaces.
The purpose of this paper is to find the correlation between air pollution and society’s responsibility to promote a cleaner safer environment for its citizens. My research question is: How can society help keep the air we breathe safe? There are so many chemicals and other vapors that are emitted into the air that it becomes a chore for people with respiratory problems, i.e., asthma, to breathe without some assistance and in some cases of older individuals, carry an oxygen tank daily. Can some of these health issues be prevented if we managed our air pollution better?
astes of the peels contribute to pollution of the environment. Recently, food industries are being forced by government to develop productions without secondary residues. Therefore, there are considerable emphases on the recovery, recycling and upgrading their by-products. Since these by-products antioxidant activities (Bauer et al., 2012) and could be converted into a range of commercial products (Martínez et al., 2012). For those reasons, different researches have assayed different methods in order to obtain new raw material products from fruits and vegetables processing by products (Calín-Sánchez et al., 2012). Large scale consumption as fresh fruits, the Citrus fruits are mainly processed to produce juice. The waste of Citrus fruits processing industry left after juice extraction, such as peels, pulps and seeds, corresponding to about 50% of the raw processed, fruit can be used as a potential source of valuable by products, (El Adawy et al., 1999). In Egypt and in many Mediterranean countries, major quantities of the peel are not further processed, if not processed further, it becomes waste produce odor, soil pollution, harborage for insects and can give rise to serious environmental pollution, (Mandalari et al., 2006). Some attempts were made to use these residues as livestock feed. Although their low nutritional value allowed only limited success (Bampidis and Robinson, 2006).
What is air pollution? Air pollution is a serious health and environment problem. It refers to the contamination of air, irrespective of indoors and outdoors. A physical biological or chemical alteration to the air in the atmosphere can be termed as pollution. Air pollution can further be classified into two sections. Visible air pollution and invisible air pollution. Another way of looking at air pollution could be any substance that holds the potential to hinder the atmosphere or the well being of living beings surviving in it. The sustainment of all things living us due to a combination of gases that collectively form the atmosphere, the imbalance caused by the increase or decrease of the percentage of these gases can be harmful.
