In Eraser Tattoo, the themes of love and loss can be explored through the characters Shay and Dante in their relationship. The author illustrates these themes through key moments in Dante and Shay’s relationship, especially when Shay is moving away and Dante realizes the tattoo represents the pain he is experiencing with Shay leaving. For an example, at the end of the story the author states, “He knew the pain wouldn't last forever but the scar would.”. This relates to the theme of love and loss and how the pain won't last forever but the memory will by highlighting the events of when Shay made an eraser tattoo on Dante since she was leaving and wanted Dante to have a memory of her. This can also show how deep their relationship is and how

In Tattoos on the Heart, the reader accompanies Father Gregory Boyle throughout a series of heart-warming conversions he conducts through his interactions with numerous gang members in the Los Angeles projects. Likewise, J.D. Vance in Hillbilly Elegy constructs a memoir of his tumultuous upbringing in the Midwest as well as of his familial roots in Kentucky. A commonality throughout the novels is the poverty faced by members of these communities and how it contributes to the conflicts that drive the plot. The topic of poverty, its causes, and possible solutions has always interested me a lot due to a concept of the Lottery of Birth, which is a philosophical position that comes up frequently in my debate competitions. Basically, where we are born, in terms of one’s position and class in society, is arbitrary; I did not choose to be born in the socioeconomically comfortable neighborhood of Massapequa Park. This is a perpetual unfairness to which there is no solution, but there has to be some action that can alleviate the suffering of the over three billion people worldwide who live on less than three dollars a day (DoSomething.org).
My senior project was over the History of Tattooing, I chose this as my topic because Tattoos really interest me with all the different styles and meanings behind them. Some things I already knew about Tattooing is a lot of tribes used tattoos to symbolize things, but I didn’t know what.
The poet uses body tattoos as a resemblance of how permanent and everlasting their love is. We are focused on his body tattoos, but this is really used to symbolize himself and his life. The tattoos will stay with him, just like everything he had or has in life. She is willing to still love and accept him. Throughout the poem, we are given an imagery of the couple lying in darkness, feeling up on each other.
Egyptian historical records indicate that during the Thirteenth Dynasty, 1803 to 1649BC, there existed a rivalry between the leaders of Egypt's military, religion and government. At the same time several groups of people from Canaan migrated into eastern Nile River Delta region of Egypt, in order to escape the poor weather conditions required for agriculture, forming a separate Fourteenth Dynasty, 1725 to 1650BC. During this time the Hyksos, another culture from the Levant took advantage Egypt's weakness, invaded the eastern Nile River Delta region, conquered the Canaanites, formed the Fifteen Dynasty, from 1650 to 1531BC, and established the city Avaris as their capital. 27
In “First Poem for You” the tattoos are used as symbols just as the letter is in “The Illiterate.” The specific symbol chosen in this poem to represent a relationship between and man and a woman is a tattoo. This is certainly chosen purposefully because the process of getting something tattooed permanently on your body is painful! The ink is literally sewn into your skin with a needle. Though the process is painful, he still gets the tattoo and has more than one. This specific symbol is used because no relationship exists and prospers without some kind of pain. Therefore, if both people want to be in the relationship they will press on through the pain. In both poems symbolism is used to magnify potential flaws in relationships but present the argument that though there may be pain it is still worth perusing.
Different cultures tattoo for different reasons like, protection, rank in society, adornment of the body and coming of age. Regardless of why people are tattooed, they have been tattooing since before the birth of Christ.

Tattoos are not a new fad that grew over night. Tattooing has been a form of art that people have used to communicate with for ages. Whether it is a family crest, a butterfly, or a zodiac sign, all tattoos have meaning in which someone can tell a story. The history of tattoos goes as far back as the first people who roamed this Earth. Tattoos have been around for so long that no historian or archaeologist can precisely trace back to when and where tattooing began.
Tattoos can be a bad problem when trying to find a job, or can it? Tattoos can be a good thing and can cover up wounds from injuries. It’s your body so it should be up to you what you put on it. Jobs are hard to find when you have visible tattoos, because people can think you are a part of a gang. Tattoos can be used for good things or even just to get something you like permanently on your body, but some people believe tattoos can give someone a bad image and get them judged quick.
When studying the history of tattoos, pinpointing the first time a tattoo was seen was almost impossible to do until 1991. An Iceman, named Otzi, was found by German hikers in 1991. Otzi was found covered with at least 57 tattoos (Huffington Post). This is to show that tattoos have been around for more than fifty-three hundred years. Otzi’s tattoos were discovered to be therapeutic and they consisted of lines and crosses all over the body. The next oldest tattoos were found on the Chinchorro mummy. Chinchorro’s tattoos consisted of symbols and drawings, and were found to be decorative only. It is more than remarkable that even after 53 hundred years, similar designs, symbols, and drawings are still used to mark our skin. These findings
Some medical tattoos were used as ancient medicine. The tattoos found on female mummies in locations such as the pelvis could have been used for a therapeutic or medicinal purpose. Examining of the scars leaves no doubt that they were not just ornaments. “They were an established treatment for a condition of the pelvis, possibly being chronic pelvic peritonitis” (Tattoos).
Tattoos are like symbols, it has different meanings and people can interpret it differently. Tattoos could be interpreted as good, bad, evil, cute, past, present, future, personality, memories, events or about something dear in their life. My tattoo has several symbols that have different meanings to me. It is about my past, present, future, personality, and important people in my life. The tattoo that I would be getting has a rose as a stem, dirt for the foundation, sunflower as the flower, inside the dirt and the root of the flower are people, the steam and leaves have different symbols which are a book, more people, basketball, and buildings. I would also put this tattoo on my forearm. These are the symbols that would be in
