“I think I’m gonna check,” Jacob gently placed his cards back onto the table. Emma lifted the corner of her hand. “I raise thirteen.” The last card was placed onto the table. Last chance to bet. “Twenty-six,” Jacob gazed through his eyelashes, raising the bet once again. Groaning, Emma threw her cards onto the pile of chips in the middle of the table. “Fold!” “And you would be right to!” Jacob laughed as he slapped a pair of aces down in front of him and collecting his chips. “Oh my God! You always get the good hand!” Jacob flashed a look of offense. “No I do--” He was briskly interrupted. “Name one time you’ve lost! Hiding behind fallen hair, she rubbed her palms against her jeans (Jacob and Emma both changed into more inconspicuous clothing). Jacob came around with her latte, placing it beside her before sitting to nurse his cappuccino. “You okay? You look as if you’ve seen a ghost.” After he spoke, he licked the milk mousse moustache from his upper lip. This made Emma slightly more at ease. “I’m fine,” she smiled. “It’s just…” She lowered her voice. “There’s a guy at my 5 o’clock. He’s just… staring.” Jacob quickly flitted his gaze over in that direction and then back at his partner, his head unmoving. “He’s a bit creepy, isn’t he?” he mumbled. “Wanna pack up and start crossing off places?” “Please.” Jacob left to get takeaway cups as Emma starting placing things in her rucksack. The two spent the evening searching for the location of the missing agent; a man called Tyler Brown. As they were driving, Jacob noticed something out of the rearview mirror. “Uh, Em?” She hummed in reply. “I think someone’s following us.” “What can we do?” she asked, turning left. For the second time that day, Jacob was interrupted. A bullet shattered the rear windshield. “Not much!” Jacob took a pistol out of the glovebox and began firing back. Emma stole a glance behind her. “Look out!” Jacob grabbed the steering wheel and pulled. The wheels veered out of control and the truck tumbled. It rolled off the road. The vehicle finally stopped rolling, lying capsized on the grass.
