An occupational therapist is a very important job in everyday life. Not only for the people teaching and practicing it, but also the people they are healing. An occupational therapist treats injured and disabled patients. Most patients have something physically wrong with them, but others may have a mental illness. While occupational therapist mainly heal disabled patients they without a doubt are needed in everyday life. Occupational therapist help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills for everyday living and working.
Occupational therapists help patients with not only their motor functions, but also how to deal with permanent loss of function. They help patients in a wide variety of different ways. Any where from using a computer …show more content…

Without them many people would struggle to make any progress of a injury they have acquired. Many people think of and occupational therapist as someone who work on main injuries to the human body, but they work on smaller injuries often. These smaller injuries can be something a lot of people can’t fix. A occupational therapist doesn’t always fix your problems and injuries, they most of the time help you adapt to them. An example of this would be arthritis, arthritis is the inflammation of the joints causing them to become stiff and painful while in use. This problem can’t be necessarily fixed but the pain and symptoms can be reduced through medication. This ties into occupational therapy, the pain may go away but your joints can still be stiff. A occupational therapist will help you adapt to this. They will teach you ways to get through the day with zero to minimal pain.
A occupational therapist makes the world a better place. Through helping people learn about their problems and teaching them how to overcome them they open the eyes of people everyday. This is a career I would like to see in my future. I enjoy talking with and helping other live a easier life. This is why I believe a occupational therapist is the job for me.
