Scoping the Assessment:
Environment is defined as the air, water and soil (The New Brunswick Clean Environment Act)
So for any person to scope the assessment he has to put in considerations any act or material that has any impact on one or all of these matters. Also, assess its impact during the lifecycle.
From the factors to be considered during EIA :
• Atmospheric Environment;
• Acoustic Environment;
• Water Resources;
• Aquatic Environment;
• Terrestrial Environment;
• Vegetated Environment;
• Wetland Environment;
• Public Health and Safety;
• Labour and Economy;
• Community Services and Infrastructure;
• Land and Resource Use;
• Current Use of Land and Resources for Traditional Purposes by Aboriginal Persons;
• Heritage Resources;
Culture is defined as the traditions, customs, norms, beliefs, values and thought patterning passed down from generation to generation (Jandt 2010). The world consists of many different cultures. In this Ethnographic Interview, I was given the opportunity to explore and learn more about a culture different from my own. Through observation I’ve have seen how people of different cultures differ from mines. For example, the type of foods a person
As assessment is usually conducted at two phases in any project. (Burt, 2005) First it is conducted to

In a 2008-2009 ethnographic case study of four fifth grade classrooms with varying levels of Native American student enrollment, Stone and Hamann (2012) seek the reasons for performance disparity amongst American Indian students’ attending schools that implemented inquiry-based mathematics through the Investigations, an inquiry-based math curriculum. Additionally, Stone and Hamann (2012) examine what, if any strategy existed at the fourth school that explained high achievement amongst all student groups. Employing multilevel modeling of the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study—Kindergarten Cohort of 1998–1999 (ECLS-K) Robinson (2013) examines the association amongst the influences of poverty, math achievement, and behavioral
On the playground, I met who will soon to be my first best friend, shortly after I had my first kiss. Kissing a girl, I felt so scared of what it meant that I knew I had to make myself the way I believed was right. I thought the best way was denying and eliminating all feelings that I had of the opposite sex because I never saw two of the same sex could be together. Little did I know my mom is gay but, she was too afraid to talk about it at the time so, it led me to struggle with my sexuality growing up. I developed strong feelings for my best friend and I believed that I just loved her because she was my best friend. I quickly learned that I loved her in a stronger way and still not knowing how to deal with my feelings, I started to hate my
Our memories often time embellish the memories we once had of such great people, places, times, and etc. We live these times up to standard that makes us reminisce, hurt, contemplate and so much more. The power of a photograph has been described to have worth a thousand words, metaphorically meaning of course, that what an image can capture in one instance, something that may not ever be captured through words. For too many centuries we have been without, what many of us now take for granted, the photograph. What we capture in a picture, has much more value than we often time see in our commercials, people, places, they tell a story to the ignorant, paint a picture for blind, give the deaf something to listen to, and so much more.
Me: As I performed the posture test on myself I already knew that I would have proper posture. Due to the fact that when I was younger, I looked in the mirror and noticed that I had a slouchy posture. I had (Lordosis) and an anterior pelvic tilt, which made me look awful from a side point of view. I wanted to fix my posture and learned that I had weak abdominal muscles and tight hamstrings along with weak gluteus maximus muscles. As I learned how to fix my problem, I began doing exercises for those muscles for flexibility and strength gains. For my exercises in detail I began standing for a long period of time and would flex my gluteus maximus muscles and keep them tight for a period of time to strengthen them which would be for a few minutes. This fixed the slight curve in my lower back. The next step I performed was the same as with my gluteus maximus muscles but for my abs which helped keep a good posture naturally without thinking about my posture deviations and how to fix them. I could now begin to stand naturally with a good posture. The last step I did was stand against a wall with my back and neck flat against the wall and I would press my tongue against the top of my mouth to
Once the song was fully memorized I practiced it with the recording accompaniment. I learned when to come in from the piano intro and how long to wait after the different phrases and sections. There were no dynamics for the voice part, so I added them in where I saw fit based on the phrases and lyrics, and was highly influenced by a recording sung by Cecilia Bartoli at the Berliner Philharmoniker with Daniel Barenboim.
I have decided to study the Bangladesh Muslim Center, also known as the Jame Masjid/Mosque by the locals for my ethnographic fieldwork project. The mosque is located in the Kensington neighborhood of the Brooklyn borough of New York City. The place of worship may be found on the corner of McDonald Avenue and Cortelyou Road; and the F train runs right in front of the building. It is in such an area where at times the noise level is at a maximum due to several building supply and material warehouses nearby, trucks passing by, and construction on the subway line. At other times, one may hear a pin drop.
Divisions of household labour and child care, which have been argued to be markers of love and intimacy, differ to a great deal depending on a couple’s gender ideology. Greenstein (1996) undertook an important study drawing on existing qualitative data from the National Survey of Families and Households attained via interviews and surveys, to re-examine the relationship between equality and labour. Greenstein (1996) found that egalitarian women are less likely to do more housework than their partners and are more likely to perceive the division of household labour as unjust. Supporting this, Hochschild & Machung (1989) have noted that a couple’s gender ideology leads to the division of labour within the relationship. Moreover, findings from
Honestly, I had quite a bit of ethnocentrism going into this micro-ethnography. I deemed myself superior due to my stable living situation; however, it took this cultural contact experience for me to realize my feelings of superiority are inappropriate. I am fortunate enough to have a solid support system and the opportunity to better my education; however, instead of using these privileges as reasons why I am “better” than those living at the Center for the Homeless, I must be grateful for the opportunities I have been given.
Environmental photography is not only concerned with land and wildlife, photographers also advocate for vanishing cultures such as well-known Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado (Amazonas Images, n.d.; Bogre, 2012; Ritchin, 2009). Initially an economist, Salgado switched to photography in the 1970s. Like many photographers, he photographed stories of everyday happenings. Yearning to do more, Salgado and his wife left Magnum Photo Agency in 1994 and formed Amazonas Images. Since then, he has photographed numerous controversial stories in over 100 countries exposing the human condition. Despite Salgado’s relentless efforts, he has been criticized for the harsh reality portrayed in his images of famine in northern Africa and his politically
In conducting ethnographical fieldwork, anthropologists have selected few key consultants to gather exclusive details and information about a society’s custom ideas, values, and practices through participation in research of the Ju/ ‘haonsi people of Namibia. Through qualitative data and much fieldwork in Namibia, key consultants will have to lay out a formal outline in their research to be successful. By conducting ethnographical fieldwork, preparation, observances and many challenges will have to be faced during the duration of Namibia. As a key consultant I must endure all factors of this study including: funding, ethics, an ethnographical approach, and all barriers that might stand in my way while conducting field work.
In many ways, conservation and environmental photography are closely related in their approach, and some even use the terms synonymously. In my view, conservation photography has existed in some form well before iLCP was established (see Ch. 3). Over the last decade, I suggest conservation photography has expanded to a wider-reaching photography, as I use the term here, environmental photography. Several photographers compelled by what they uncover in their work looked to do more. At this time, NGOs and environmental organizations also realized a different approach was necessary to communicate to the public and decision-makers about environmental causes and recognized conservation photographers’ skill and contribution to tell these stories.
