There are character types and personalities, which with these personalities shows a ton of racial stereotypes demonstrated in society. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (1960). relevant as ever, and people need to use the content within the book to learn how to put yourself in another person's skin.

Dolphus Raymond is an intriguing character because he likes to be with people of color more than whites, so people do not interact with him. For example, he puts a coca-cola bottle in a paper bag to make it look like an alcoholic beverage. The children proceed to ask him “why do you do like you do”( 268). and Raymond responds with “you mean why do I pretend? Well, It’s very simple… i try to give ‘em a reason you see it helps folks if they latch onto a reason”(268). Which Raymond is basically saying he pretends to be drunk so they think it’s alcohol influencing his decisions. Why is this brought up? This point is being brought up because people tend to use this as an escape tactic from a question that gets brought up constantly and the way to make them stop is to make up a fake reason so they can hang onto previously stated fake reason.

There is a literal definition in this book and a metaphorical definition of the quote”to kill a mockingbird is a sin”( ). The metaphorical definition goes around the lines of benefiting yourself off of the weak, examples of this are when people give money to the homeless just to make more money off of helping the homeless is like killing a mockingbird.Why does this matter? Well it matters because near the end of the book Scout brings up that making Arthur “Boo” Radley a hero would be sort of killing a mockingbird, because he lived most of his adulthood in solitary and if there were people waiting to see the hero that saved to kids and being a nuisance to them when their not used to it just because two lives were saved. Well that seems like its a good thing or is it? Well to the population it is not a big deal but to the small population of maycomb county it is.
