A hero is defined as someone who in the face of danger steps up and puts others needs before theirs, expecting no reward in return. In the article “What Makes a Hero?” by Phillip Zimbardo, the author expresses that everyone has the ability to help others, whether it is a small deed like leading a guiding hand to someone who needs it, or it can be as intense as pulling someone out of a burning car. The writer attempts to emphasize the importance of doing the right thing by stating,  “Few people do evil and fewer act heroically.” (Zimbardo). In addition, heroes act not for the fame or the money, but for their own satisfaction. Do you remember superman? Well he’s a superhero but that's not what this is about this is about heroes not superheros. A hero Is not born a hero, You're shaped into a hero and you don’t have super powers like flying and super strength they're just normal individuals you see in everyday life that are brave, strong, and courageous like a fireman or policeman it can even be your local mailman.

A hero is simply, someone that shows courage and bravery to persevere through hardships. For example, a hero shows great acts of strength and determination to continue in the face of difficulty. The action that a hero demonstrates, is what causes recognition and appreciation. A hero takes action for a cause that they feel strongly about. For instance, if someone was bullying another kid, and someone who was watching from the outside, decided to stand up for what they believe in, that person who acted upon the bully would be considered a hero. The person took action for what they believe in, and didn’t just sit there and let the kid get bullied. In other words, a hero can be anyone that demonstrates skill and determination to stand up for what they believe in. Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks are two examples of people who acted upon a cause they felt strongly about.

~ In the article “What is a Hero”  paragraph 4-5 the author states that a what makes a hero is “A heroic act is one performed with recognition of possible risk and cost, be they  to one's physical health or personal reputation, in which the actor is willing to accept anticipated sacrifice. The key to heroism is a concern for other people I need your concern to the find a moral cost knowing there is a personal risk done without expectation of reward.” Basically a hero is someone who helps others not because he is asked or he will receive  a reward but someone who does it to be kind.

As Novalis, a famous German poet and philosopher once stated, “A hero is one who knows how to hang on one minute longer.” A hero does not show worry, but pushes through and can be courageous for only a little while longer than everyone else. Because heroes are people who put others before themselves, they must go above and beyond and not worry about their own safety.

A hero is someone who puts others before themselves and never gives up. They can be an ordinary person, but it is their actions that make them true heroes. Heroes are people that make the largest impact in a person’s life and has influenced their life to be better. Heroism can be sticking up for others or putting others before yourself.

Heroes are your regular everyday people that work to the best of their abilities to make a difference in the world. Those who are not willing to go through hardships, be selfless, courageous and make sacrifices for others aren’t heroes. Throughout the hero's journey, a hero must go through many hardships. Any heroic deed involves danger and sacrifice, and a hero needs courage to overcome the odds they face. To be a hero, one must put other’s needs before their own, and stay true to what they think is right.

According to the dictionary, a hero is “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” I believe, however, that a hero is someone who exceeds expectations and does not stick to the status quo. Heroes will always try to do the right thing. They will put other people’s life above their own if they are given the chance to. This may include running into a fire to save someone, or helping a friend out if it is the right thing to do.

To be a hero doesn't mean to wear a cape and a mask and have supernatural powers. Real heroes don't have to be superheroes. Most heroes are just average people looking to do right in the world. A hero also has many qualities among other things that help and let them be heroes.

Heroes are willing to face danger sacrificing their lives for others. Heroism is not just demonstrated by being kind but being brave and courageous and willing to make a change, not worried about what could happen if the challenge is faced. Heroes are courageous and never doubt themselves.
