The government should not extend school hours.it is not healthy for the kids.it can cause depression. It can also cause long term brain damage.it very unhealthy it will cause their center focus to be on school only not on their family or their friends. The consequences can be back problems because the more school they get the more subjects they the more homework they have. If you or if the government encourages or extends school hours the students will surely overload and they will surely have depression low self esteem and all these kind of stuff.
The students will not have time to spend with their parents. This detail applies on specifically young kids that are in middle school. It is
Some people say that extending school hour's is a bad thing for multiple reason's.I strongly disagree because their are many benefit's to extending school hour's to start at a later time. For example, if state's moved schools hour's to a later time their would be increased performance and reduced absences. There would also be a reduced number of student's falling asleep in class's and much more.
In the entire world, America is placed 48th and Japan is 1st in school rankings. I believe Japan is only in 1st because they have an all year round school so they get more enrichment. On the other hand, USA has many breaks such as summer, winter, spring, and maybe ski-week. Schools should lengthen our hours not just to be in a higher ranking but also for students to get more enrichment. First of all, if we lengthen our school hours the students get extra improvement and instruction. This extra time can give teachers more time to answer questions and give more experience. Research has shown that in schools who have lengthened their hours the students test scores raised from 5-10%. Another reason is that the longer days can help prepare students
Research proves that when a teenager tries to change their sleeping schedule it becomes difficult because they are used too going to sleep late. Some high schools are thinking about changing the time they begin and let out so that students could get on the right sleeping track. Schools should not change the time because some students are already used too the schedule that they have now.
Imagine sitting at a desk all day listening to a teacher drone on and hand you a worksheet right after that. Well if your school day was 9 hours and 30 minutes instead of 8 hours, then that's what you would have to do. You would be there till 4:30 in the afternoon. Who wants to be there for that with only lunch as a break? Every class would be about 18 minutes longer. Which is why I don’t agree with schools extending the day because it can cause sleep deprivation, result in more kids getting in trouble, and more kids zoning out.
The Massachusetts experiment proves that the extension can produce more money for schools. Even though some might think the extension brings in more money, the reality is extending the school schedule cost millions and not many states have the resources to fund it. In fact in the article “Schools Give Extended Class Time a Longer Look” Ledyard King states, “Lack of money was largely the reason Florida abandoned its experiment with a longer school day years ago” (King). King’s statement proves that extensions are sometimes too costly to go into action. Furthermore, many states are not financially inclined to provide their schools with the resources needed for the extension.
First and foremost, if students have to come back from school later in the day then the after school activities will be shortened. Their sport practices will be shortened and they won’t have time work on any work in
If an hour and half of school were added every day, students would miss after school activities. Students will miss the fun extracurricular activities. and students won’t get the exercise they need.
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day, and I don’t think that's a good idea. For one, most kids don’t get enough sleep at night, and by 3:07 they’re ready to go home and go to sleep. If we extend school hours most kids will be sleeping in class, and then won’t be learning anything. Second, most kids parents work at different times and that would just mess their schedule up. Say if the child parents needs to be at work at 3:20, and needs there child to be there to take care of their little siblings. If we get out later than 3:07 it would mess that up. Last but not least, it would be good for those who like to afternoon activities, but still it would be a long time staying at school. I think the school board shouldn't
Would it be good to have longer school days? The school board is thinking about adding 1 hour and 30 minutes to school days. I think it is a very bad choice by the school board to add more time to school.
To begin, one of the main reasons that the school day should not be extended, is based on the fact that students will not be getting enough sleep. Mary Carskadon, a professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University, wrote in her article “Let Students Sleep” that “many adolescents are already in trouble because they get too little sleep.” With a seven hour school day alone, students are already struggling to get to bed at a reasonable hour, due to sports, extracurriculars, homework, and day-to-day activities. Carskadon notes that good sleep “enhances” and “amplifies” what is learned the day before. Students running on less hours of sleep not only perform badly in school, but tend to forget or struggle to recall what they’ve learned. To make the school day longer, it would either have to start earlier, forcing students to wake up earlier, or finish later, pushing extracurriculars and homework later into the night. Students running on less sleep struggle to recall what they learned and stay awake in school; thus, with a longer school day, students will be spending time trying to not fall asleep rather than learning new, important material. As one can clearly tell, extending the school day will be detrimental to the health of students.
When it comes to longer school days, the majority of students do not concur. However there are many positives of extended school days. To get into specifics, longer school days are better for raising test scores and children with risky grades. The Department of Education in Massachusetts reported that increasing the school day by 25% raised test scores by around 4.7% - 10.8% points. In addition, some students who teeter on the edge of dropping out of honor classes or receiving bad grades can gain additional support with extended school hours. Secondly, longer school days provides better student to student or student to teacher bonding. A longer school day has the ability to give students more time to get to know each other, as well as their
I think students should not have an 8 hour school day. Most kids do not want to go to school longer than 8 hours. On debate.org a poll named “Should School Days be Shorter” show me that 89% of students said yes and 11% said no. My first reason is that “Students would get home much faster and they’ll have more time for homework and other activities after school.”Also, having a shorter school day would get students to have enough sleep and be energized the next day. My second reason is that the school district will save money and this is a quote from education.seattlepi.com. My third reason is that teachers would work fewer hours and therefore, would get less pay.” So I believe having a shorter school day could benefit the school district to save money and use it for field trips and sports. Students and the school district can be successful with a shorter school day.
Research do not support why school should be longer because it would not fix anything and I Do not know why people trying to make the school longer but I only got like two or three hours to spend with my family before it get dark and everybody go away from each other or my mom go to sleep so i got barely enough time to spend with my family.
Adding more time to the school day can cause a lot of problems. Students require a certain amount of sleep and are worn out and exhausted at the end of the school day the extra time would just be a waste of time to the students who don’t need the extra time. Adding more time to school is expensive and the teacher’s paycheck would have to increase. Students also would not have time for extracurricular activities and not much time for family. This is why the school time should stay the same and not
I agree that school days should be extended one and half hour to each school day. Hear are some reasons why I agree on this situation or agreement. Students can do better in school and outside of school. Students can learn more and better things in school. Also students can get even better grades then before. Next students can do there work better and have 100 percent. Lastly students can move their SRI and test scores up.
