Family Conflict In Romeo And Juliet

In the story ¨Romeo and Juliet¨ by Shakespeare, many problems have occurred. Some of those being the huge conflict between the Capulets, and the Montagues, and Juliet's parents forcing her to marry Paris. Many people could be accused for causing some of the problems in Verona, but the two fighting families is the main one for a couple of reasons.

Is family always the cause of issues? Does the audience know how much our family reflects on our opinions? Everything that anyone does reflects on us, depending on our gender, age group, family, or ethnic background. If you think that families are hard on each other then think of Romeo and Juliet’s families, including Capulet, Lady Capulet, Tybalt, Nurse, Montague, and Lady Montague, and how they played the ultimate role in Romeo and Juliet's deaths.

The family feud is responsible for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet. Had there not been a feud, there would have been no need for Romeo and Juliet to hide their love. Due to the fact that they are not able to be together publicly, they both commit suicide. During the prologue, Shakespeare introduces the conflict between the two families by referring to it as an “ancient grudge”. The word “ancient” insinuates that this conflict is a long lost source of hatred, and possibly even that the origin of the aversion between the families has been forgotten. Additionally, within the prologue, Shakespeare describes Verona as “fair”, this gives a clear juxtaposition between the conflict and a “fair” environment. Additionally, In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents the Prologue as a sonnet in order to demonstrate the play 's themes of love and the conflict because sonnets were often used to address the subject of love with in conflict.

When people hear of Romeo and Juliet they think about a tragic love story of two young people who died because they could not bear being without one another, but how did that tragedy come about? Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for each other. Romeo is soon exiled and so they decide to run away together because Juliet does not want to be without him and that plan ends up going downhill. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.

Romeo Montague first appears as a confused young teen that is experiencing unrequited love. On the other hand, Juliet Capulet is seen as an obedient daughter who seems to have no desires of her own.
