Determination drives people to undertake a mission that could change their lives. Rikki-Tikki risked his life just to keep his new family safe from danger; Farah Ahmedi climbed a mountain on a prosthetic leg so that her mother and her can be free from Afghanistan, a war country; Cap walked the Klondike through cruel weather in order to keep a promise to a late friend. Farah Ahmedi was determined to escape the war in her city, Rikki-Tikki wanted to keep is family safe and Cap wanted to keep his promise in order to feel relief, they all had a mission to reach their goal. In the story "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" by Rudyyard Kipling, Rikki-Tikki (a mongoose)is on a mission to keep his family away from danger. " As he held he closed his closed his jaws tighter and tighter, he made sure he would be banged to death, and, for the honor of his family." So while Rikki-Tikki was fighting Nag (the cobra) he was positive that he was going to die trying to keep his family from harm, "It's the mongoose again, Alice. The little chap …show more content…
Farah Ahmedi went through many obstacles when she "had no chance of getting through I saw that it was no use." When she was about to give up she made some friends with a family that were looking for a way out of Afghanistan too so when the other families husband came back from looking for a way out he said "of course you can come with us, but you have two hard days, you will need some rest before you attempt this mountain crossing." She was prepared to go and climb the mountain so that she can be free. "It was terribly warm and we had no water," this is one of the obstacles Farah Ahmedi and her mother had to face. "I myself hardly felt the exertion" she had a prosthetic leg that was a little worn out, "but not enough to slow me down." Farah Ahmedi pushed through hard times with many obstacles so that she can accomplish her
Rikki-tikki recognizes an almost hidden snake caused by it’s similar color of the ground that he hides upon. Dust snakes have as deadly of a bite as cobras and their small size comes as an advantage, allowing them to turn unexpectedly in any direction. The battle between the mongoose and snake is what begins the trust of Teddy’s father, and makes Rikki-tikki a savior in the family. This scene also leads to the death of the two other snakes, Nag and Nagaina by giving Rikki-tikki the confidence to battle the other snakes. Which allows the critters to feel safe at home.
One thing the film did not do so well was an accurate representation of the Arabian people.
Imagine hammering away at your goal to either succeed in a life goal or face a hardship in life and persevere through it. To demonstrate this, Farah Ahmedi undertook the mission of crossing the Afghanistan border to get to Pakistan in search of a better life. LeBron James persevered though fans full of hatred after he left his home team and joined a new team. Finally, Aengus tackled the expedition of trying to find true love he wanted but never found it. However, two characters had tons of persistence and determination in order to push through a hard time and all of them had the perseverance to try to succeed in their goal.
The story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling is about the rivalry between Rikki, a small mongoose and Nag and Nagaina, two king cobras. A giant wave flushes Rikki out from his warm, cozy den and leaves him on the river bank near Teddy’s family’s garden. Rikki is taken in and cared for, by Teddy’s family. While exploring the garden he confronts two king cobras Nag and Nagaina. If Rikki does not kill the snakes, the garden creatures will fall prey to the cobras! This exciting story also became a motion picture movie. The story and the movie are similar in plot but contain some notable differences, including where Rikki finds Teddy in the bath and that Nagaina waits for one of
In life, many things can drive us to undertake a mission and do drastic, crazy things to fulfill our goals. While we cannot truly understand what drives each individual to do so, oftentimes people want or need something badly enough to take risks. For example, Farah Ahmedi fought for her freedom by climbing a mountain on a prosthetic leg. Aengus searched for his glimmering girl from youth to old age. Rikki-tikki-tavi took on two grown cobras when he was still inexperienced. These characters, fictional or real, had different reasons and motivations behind what they did. Ahmedi sought freedom and survival and Aengus wanted love, while Rikki-tikki was merely following his sense of duty; however, all three shared a determination and ability to endure tough times to accomplish their goals.
To undertake a mission means to set a goal for yourself means to set a goal for yourself to accomplish. People are determined and work hard to reach their goals. For example, Farah Ahmedi climbed a mountain on a prosthetic leg to reach freedom. Aengus traveled long and hard to find love. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was determined on killing the snakes and saving his new family. These characters had different reasons for pursuing their goals and doing what they did. Ahmedi wanted freedom, Rikki-Tikki wanted to protect his new family, and Aengus was set on finding love; however all three shared the determination to accomplish their goal.
The smart, the brave, the handsome, Rikki-tikki-tavi! Rikki is a mongoose that single handedly killed two cobras, Nag and his wife, Nagaina. I read the story of Rikki-tikki-tavi and watched the movie of it too. While watching the movie I noticed somethings that were different and some things that were the same between the movie and story. The first thing different that I noticed was during the movie we had the perspective of Rikki in part of the movie and in the story the narrator always gave us what Rikki was thinking it never gave us his actual perspective.
In the novel “A long walk to water” by Linda Sue Park, Salva, a young man that lived in South Sudan throughout his childhood to his young-adult years, had faced many difficult challenges the young age of eleven. Salva had to flee from home because of Sudan’s civil war. He soon experienced a horrifying and dreadful life, his family gone, no resources in his group, he watched people die, walked for months, and lead twelve hundred boys to a refugee camp in Kenya. Salva survived this terrible life with the help of three factors, perseverance, luck, and relationships with others. Without any of these factors, Salva might not have been able to survive or possibly become the leader he is today.
Walking to the refugee camp taught her dedication and perseverance. She walked miles upon miles for more than a week with her feet. "It seems to take forever to get my feet under me and rise"(Staples 124). Through this journey, Najmah had lost feelings that she needs. "I don't feel hungry for the first time in many days.
“Interested in your father’s glorious family tree? You aren’t included, it only includes men’s names.” In the film ‘Wadjda’, directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, a girl named Wadjda from the male-dominated culture of Saudi Arabia sees a green bike that she strives her hardest to own. Although could the bike be a metaphor for something deeper? Some may say the bike is nothing more than a plain old bike, but in this essay, I will discuss how and why the green bike symbolises more than a mere green bike. The focus will be on the significance of the bike, why it has been chosen to act as the metaphor, and how/why the director has chosen it to show that Wadjda is subversive.
Heros push forward when difficult challenges arise. For example, after fighting in Afghanistan, soldier Tristan Segers returned home with one leg. However he kept his freedom and still does the things he loves even when it seems impossible in other’s eyes. Tristan states “ Of course the loss of a leg changes me. But it doesn’t define me or the rest of my life.” (SB,p. 59) Another example is Walt Disney, founder of the Disney corporation. In his early twenties Walt was fired from
First, “And no one, not even the oldest in the village, can say for certain whether I’ll get to the end”(Salak 1). Second,“He says he will pray for me” (Salak 1.) The journey was very difficult and nearly impossible. If she completes it she’ll leave a legacy and become an inspiration. Her journey was mental and physical because she had to endure difficult conditions.
The determination to survive was greater than just giving up and dying. Meribah and her father were left behind to fend for themselves. The cold had come and it was her job to keep her and her father alive because her father was ill and could not help. She went out and hunted for things to build a little wagon on her own. There were many things others had thrown out so there were many things to choose from. I think that when faced with tough situations a person will somehow get through if they have the determination. Sometimes when I have to do something and there is no one to help or do it for me I feel as if I have that responsibility and I do what I have to do.
Prior to traveling together to Africa has been suspended by the Nation of Islam. Ali’s strategy was proven successful when he takes advantage of Foreman’s fatigue and goes on the offensive and knocks Foreman out. The movie ends with Muhammad Ali regaining the Heavyweight Championship.
