Many people think they know about firefighting, however not many people actually know how firefighting truly works. Firefighters do not rush into burning buildings every second they are on shift. There is not as much drama as people see on television. The training process to become a firefighter is much different than what many people think it is. Training requires many hours of hands on training, as well as classroom time. Firefighting is not a terrible profession, however. Firefighting is actually a very interesting and noble line of work. Firefighters are highly revered members of every community because they are quick to respond and handle whatever situation confronts them. They put their lives on the line to save people from burning buildings, extricate victims from motor vehicle collisions, fight forest fires, treat the sick, cook pancakes, and give tours of their station and fire apparatus. What isn’t to love about firefighters and the profession? As odd as it may sound, firefighter arsonist. Every year on the average one hundred firefighters are arrested for arson (National Volunteer Fire Council [NVFC], 2011, p. 4).
After the dreadful attacks of 9/11/01 I Dan Mcwilliams and 2 other firefighters restored America’s patriotism and pride. That fateful day George and I were racing to the attack site when I spotted a American flag hanging on a yacht indocked in the Hudson river. “Gimme a hand, will ya George?” i said trying to get the flag down luckily my childhood friend Billy Eisengrien was nearby he exclaimed “You need a hand?”.
Ever since I was a young boy, I always wanted to be a firefighter. I played firefighter with my friends and we pretended to put our house and other objects out with the garden hose. We would jump out of the back of my dad’s truck with our hose just like the firefighters jumping out of their trucks. Every time I would see the fire truck drive by I would wave and say to my mom, “that is going to be me one day.”
A firefighter is not just called to fires while that is there name many are trained in emergency medical services (EMS). A new national holiday I would like to honor is National Firefighter day. A national holiday is usually a day off of school and-or work. We take these days off to honor their accomplishments and impacts on society! Firefighters have been around for God knows how long and have put out more fires than you can count!!
The alarm sounds. Fire fighters scramble into coats, and helmets, and boots. Fire trucks roar into the street loaded with fire fighters and their equipment. Every minute counts. Lives and property could be at stake. A fireman has to be of great physical and mental stature, they are minutemen and have to be ready at all times. No one can dispute that a firefighter should be a well-educated and well prepared individual. Because of the rigorous and dangerous caliber involved in the fire academy, an applicant should be well prepared, by obtaining a college degree.

Intentions of firefighters are to make the community safe as possible, but we the people need to think twice before we do anything else when dealing with fire. The other things that it 's a national problem for firefighters is not wearing their seat belts when driving out to an emergency. They are so focused on saving our lives when first it 's supposed to be the opposite, their safety is first, but firemen put their lives at risk.
In very large fire departments with several hundred firefighter or even thousands you almost become a number .Even a seasoned firefighter in such a department with 40 years of service might only have met a quarter of the personnel in that department. With
