1ST PUNIC WAR
The 1st punic war is the first war of three. The point of the first war was to gain control over the islands of Corsica and Sicily. Rome attacked Messana first and then forced the Carthaginians to not fight them back. In 260, a Roman group of boats with armies didn’t have full control of Sicily, but the path to fight Corsica was open for them to get to. The Carthaginians were forced to leave. In 256 a Roman group of ships sailed again and established an area where they could defend while fighting in Africa. Carthage was ready to fight back the Carthaginians. In 255 Carthage built a new army that involved riding on horses and elephants and beat the Carthaginians.
The battle stopped for a while and resumed in 254 but was a draw
