Whatever goes on two legs is an enemy. 0. Whatever goes on four legs or has wings is a friend. 0. No animal shall wear clothes. 0. No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets. ( this was changed because the pigs thought they were of a higher society and slept and basically lived in the farmhouse) 0. No animal shall drink alcohol to excess. ( the pigs found a beer crate in the cellar and drank a lot making them alcoholics and addicted to the drink.) 0. No animal shall kill any other animal without cause. ( Napoleon was annoyed at Snowball and was furious with the animals that had outside connection with him so he killed them.) 0. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.( the animals felt that they were being cast as lower class to the pigs and the pigs thought that they were much more superior than the other animals and therefore more
In rebellion no one should go unwatched. No action should be unseen and no one should be left unmonitored. At the end of Animal Farm, the pigs have started walking on two legs, they have invited the humans from neighboring farms over, and they have been wearing clothes, drinking alcohol and other human activities. With that quote, “Animals are more equal but some animals are more equal than others,” the reader of the story must wonder if the pigs planned to take over from the start.
For the pigs to maintain their popularity with the other animals, Squealer secretly paints additions to some commandments to benefit the pigs while keeping them free of accusations of breaking the laws (such as "No animal shall drink alcohol" having "to excess" added to it and "No animal shall sleep in a bed" with "with sheets" added to it). Eventually the laws are replaced with "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others", and "Four legs good, two legs
After having a taste of power, the pigs lose themselves in their lust for ultimate power. Because of the supreme position of the pigs in the farm, a minority controls the majority of the animals, their greed for power leads to the corruption of the power. First of all, Napoleon uses dogs to expel Snowball in order to have exclusive power. Napoleon starts to against every suggestions Snowball proposes at the beginning. He raises the puppy secretly and shows them up while excluding Snowball. These fierce dogs become a sign of Napoleon’s authority and absolute power. It is the first time that execution happens in the farm, it disobeys the essence of Animalism, all animals are friends. However, no one dares to question him because Napoleon has the absolute power, even though it starts corrupting. Secondly, when the pigs move into the farmhouse and begin sleeping in the beds, the Fourth Commandment turns out to have mysteriously changed. It now reads “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.”(Orwell, 67) Bed is a symbol of being human in the story. The pigs’ greed of being human has not
At this there was a terrible baying sound outside and nine enormous dogs came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball,” with this ousting of Snowball, Napoleon secured his place as dictator of the animals. After securing his position Napoleon was able to gather a group of pigs together that were meant to help him govern the other animals. The pigs were placed in this position because they were considered to be the most intelligent of all the animals. Further political corruption occurred when Napoleon begins to slowly add changes to the 7 laws or commandments set up by a past leader. Because not all the animals on the farm can read it made it easy for Napoleon to change the rules ever so slightly that the changes were barely noticeable. This parallel in today’s society can be seen when comparing under privileged areas to middle class areas, for example emphasis on education. Those with less education are more easily manipulated than those with higher education. It is
George Orwell¹s story, Animal Farm, is a satire of Soviet Russia. In a more general sense, however, the story traces the rise and fall of any totalitarian regime. All of the animals on Animal Farm somehow contribute to either the creation, destruction, or temporary success of the totalitarian government. The original goal of the Animal Farm society is a socialist society, but it turns bad.
Alcohol is an accepted drink that can be taken too far.Alcohol caused many problems in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Animal Farm and Othello. One of the major themes in all the three literary works was alcoholism. Drinking alcohol can lead to numerous conclusions. In the three literary works studied, drinking alcohol not only affects you but can also affect your loved ones.
"There was nothing there now except a single Commandment. It ran: ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS." The quote is saying that all animals are to be treated the same but some should be treated more than the same. Or animals are to be treated equally but some should be treated higher than the equal. This is foreshadowing to the events that will come.Clover read those words and she was reading it to the other animals. This is important to the story this shows that the pigs are completely in power and that they should be above all the other animals. This quote shows how the pigs became more and more like humans. They think they are the superior species among animals. Furthermore, they just threw away animals for
There is the brutal “dictator”, Napoleon who always got his way. He used propaganda and terror to intimidate the animals, until they could not resist. “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others” (Orwell, 43). This was the final change to the animal’s Seven Commandments. This was the ultimate example of how the pigs were controlling the remaining animals. The first part of the quote makes it seem like all animals are equal, creating a positive view of the commandment. It is yet to be known that the end of the quote implies

George Orwell’s allegorical novella, Animal Farm is a satirical retelling of the events leading up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and the rise of Stalin. After the animals rebel against Mr. Jones and his employees, they set up a government constituted by “Animalism”, which in its raw state parallels the basic principles of socialism. In order to govern them, they create basic laws meant to unify them known as, “The Seven Commandments”, which they write on the outer wall of the barn. However, the pigs begin to disobey the commandments and change them to get away with it. None of the other animals notice due to their illiteracy, so Napoleon continuously exploits this fact to get what he wants. As a result, the farm that was meant to be utopic

(Orwell 122-123). This quote shows how the commandment has changed because originally the commandment read that “All Animals Are Equal,” but now it reads “All Animals Are Equal But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others,” which shows how the pigs have changed the commandment to make it better fit their needs and to further extend their power over the other animals. Which also, shows that the pigs were fearful of the other animals rising against them so they decided to make themselves more powerful in order to strike fear into the eyes of the other

a. In the beginning the animals protested against the humans saying they have been treated badly their entire life and decide to change that. Eventually they were successful and the animals ran the farm themselves. Nepolian starts treating the animals on the farm like the humans did. He started killing them off if they were unable to work anymore. The pigs ate all the food and drank until they would wake up the next afternoon. The animals made seven commandments three of them stated "No animal shall drink alcohol." "No animal shall kill any other animal." and "All animals are equal. " These commandments that the animals made were all broken. There was only one commandment left at the end of the story and it read "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME
