George Washington's Role In The American Revolution

He has first gained public notice when he went to persuade the French the leave the Ohio Valley as they threatened to drive out the English (“George Washington”). This began to what is known as the Seven Year’s French and Indian War. After this war, many taxes were created to pay for the debt of Britain Protection. New Englanders felt the taxes were an abuse of power and began an American Revolution at Lexington and Concord in which Washington joined the Continental Congress and was named the Commander in Chief of the Continental forces. He led the forces to a moral boosting victory at Valley Forge against the British. After the war, he became the most important man in the country (“George Washington”). Washington retired from the army and became elected the first president of the United States after the new government was formed. When he retired from office he had given his ‘Farewell Address’ speech that included two main priorities for the success of America: no political parties and no foreign affairs (Williams). Although tensions between the French and British were inevitable, Washington was vital in the victory of the later Revolutionary War from the military knowledge he gained from the Seven Year’s War. The colonies decided to elect a president on the year 1789.  Washington was the first choice for president.  During the American Revolution , he was one of the best generals. For example, he was usually fighting along with his soldiers, not just giving orders. Also, Washington was never severely wounded in battle. Many people believe we would have lost the war without George Washington.

More than just a president, Washington was a General in the army that fought against the British troops. Before even being handed such an important such an important role he showed leadership qualities in defending his country; this can be shown in just one of the hundreds of paintings of him. In “Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware” one can see General George in his uniform standing tall guiding his men off to battle, he represents true national pride with his uniform and the American flag flying in the wind; he pushes through the hardships- ice in water- and leads his people through the storm

George Washington, a man of many military achievements, brought ragtag farmers to military men, and destroyed the most powerful army in the world. Washington was appointed the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775. Washington, who had military experience before serving in the Continental Army, had never commanded an army of this size. He was appointed leader of the Continental Army because John Hancock, president of the Second Continental Congress, thought of him as a man of great character who would help unite the colonies. Brilliant character and leadership help George Washington win battles over the British, and make farmers into true military men.

George Washington born on February 22nd, 1732 was a man of honor and patriotism, He was a disciplined but fair general and a humble president who set the standards for his successors this is why he should be remembered. As a man he was a simple farmer who when duty called he fought for his former country britain. As a general he led soldiers with discipline and honor then returned to his home. As a president he was humble and refused to be anything like king.

Even though Washington was used to commanding a small militia, he had an excellent strategy. His first move was to occupy Dorchester Heights where he brought supplies from Fort Ticonderoga and forced the British to evacuate Boston. Throughout the war for Independence, Washington continued to use his excellent strategies. His strategies he used on the Hessians in Trenton was the surprise attack. Most of the battles he fought, he planned out very well. He failed sometimes but that didn’t stop him from fighting. Washington was well organized, paid attention to details, and required hard work and effort from his troops. During every war Washington would visit his home ten times, he stayed in Valley Forge. During the wars he would also write letters to help his army by giving cattle to his army to feed them. Then, The Treaty of Paris ended the war for Independence and started The Revolutionary War.June of 1775, Congress ordered General Washington to lead the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. During the Revolution Washington suffered more lost battles than he won.

George Washington served a four year term as President and that’s why we have the limit of how long a President can be in office. While he was General of the Continental Army there was a problem with supplies for the troops witch was one of his hardest challenges he faced as General. George Washington was the father of the United States of America. He created our country from the beginning. Not only was he a great leader, but he was also a great commander. He helped us win the Revolutionary War, which gave our country independence. We finally became free, and that’s the greatest thing in America. The fact that he motivated regular people to fight a huge army is amazing.

He had the notoriety, the military experience, the charm and military bearing, the notoriety of being a solid loyalist. Additionally, Washington resigned his command of the Continental Army out of a belief that government should be run by the people rather than the military or some other powerful force. seemingly his most prominent military triumph was his renunciation, which was itself a political demonstration. While president he irritated numerous Americans and lost the help of numerous previous partners. However, by keeping America unbiased in the war amongst France and England, in supporting an arrangement of open back, and in looking to open the western wilderness to settlement, he prevailing with regards to protecting and extending the new country. Legislative issues never presented to him the distinction or respect that military administration did, however it was the more troublesome of the two occupations, and he dealt with it
