Golden Valley Medical Clinic On Thursday, July 27,2017 I attended clinical at the Golden Valley Medical Clinic in Clinton. I learned several tasks that take place in a clinic along with the many roles that are played at one desk. As an LPN in the clinic, there are many roles that take place. The LPN is responsible for assisting the patient from the waiting area into a patient examination room, obtaining current vital signs along with weight and height, ordering lab work and x-rays, handling referrals to and from the clinic, instructing patients on current and new medications, giving injections, and setting up and assisting the doctor with procedures. The Clinic currently accepts any patients ranging from infants through the elderly.
I enjoyed reading your post, Ms. Boynton. I think Virginia Mason Medical center transformation of healthcare using the Lean principles, demonstrates how a medical facility supposed to be operated. Virginia Mason medical team found a way to achieve 100% compliance with the CMS measures for VTE prophylaxis for intensive care patients—for 25 consecutive months and always do what is best for the patient. I wish that all hospitals and center will look into on how Virginia Mason team operating system with staff and patients goes. This organization made effective that all level of staff learn and engage in understanding and applying Lean management, and with doing so, they are one of the top hospital with excellent patient care.
Nursing can be a demanding career, but the benefits far much outweigh the challenges. Most importantly, it’s the rewards it offers by allowing an opportunity to make a difference in another person’s life through the provision of care when they need it. Just as Patricia Benner theorized in her book “Novice to Expert,” nursing encompasses both educational knowledge and extensive clinical experience acquired throughout one’s career. This far, I continue to acquire knowledge and clinical knowhow which will promote proper and efficient care to patients. Since I began practicing one year ago in a long-term healthcare facility, I have interacted with patients, families, physicians and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient’s care which has enabled me to gain confidence in myself. While I cannot deny that it was difficult to transition from a student to a licensed nurse, I learnt to overcome these challenges and focus on my strengths. Practicing as an LPN has provided a platform to learn and gain experience even though the duties and responsibilities are limited by the scope of practice.
On 5/29/17, at approximately 1804 hours, I was calling the last inmate for medication distribution in D-4, A pod. Myself and Nurse Bob were stationed at the entrance of A pod. Inmates began to crowd around the entrance of the bathroom. An unidentified inmate started yelling, "There is a guy on the floor in the bathroom having a seizure." I ordered the inmates to move out of the doorway of the bathroom. I had a partial view of the bathroom from the pod doorway and was able to partially see an inmate lying on the bathroom floor. I directed all inmates to lockdown in A pod and made a radio call to Security Control indicating there was a man down in D-4, A pod.
The case that I found is about a California medical center who has gone to court because of violating a patient`s privacy by releasing her medical information without her consent. Now they are fighting battle in court whether or not if the hospital officials have the right to share patient`s medical record unknown to the patient`s. But according to the Shasta Regional Medical Center, they said that the patient`s has waived her rights by giving her health information to a news agency, but the patient`s lawyers argue that they stay do not have the right to share the patient`s records (Patient Privacy, HIPAA Violation Case Argued in Calif., 2014). The patient`s was diagnosed with a form of malnutrition, and her medical records were sent to hundreds of hospital staff members.
Maggie Gill started her career with Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in 2004 as the VP of managed care and finance. In 2005, she became MUMC's COO, and then in 2011, she was named CEO and president by the board of directors, once they realized that the ideal candidate for the position, one who had experience in both finance and operations, was already employed by the health care facility.
Recently the Antelope Valley Hospital Foundation (AVHF) marked its 40-year anniversary of supporting the Antelope Valley’s only hospital offering full-service acute care by presenting a donation of almost $1 million.
Mental health is a substantial problem in our society and our government is. In the past, many of the severely addicted and mentally ill patients of Greater Vancouver were sent to Riverview Hospital, a mental health facility in Coquitlam that was shut down in July 2012. The aftermath of the deinstitutionalization of these patients caused unneeded problems. Riverview Hospital must be reopened to provide the beds and housing that community facilities lack for those with mental illnesses. When Riverview reopens, patients will have access to the treatment they urgently need. Intensive care in secure wards at Riverview for patients that are chronically mentally ill is absolutely necessary. Additionally, the BC government must reopen Riverview Hospital
My mom is one of the housekeeping who work at Loma Linda Medical Center. Last year on July 2014, my mom injured herself at her workplace. She fell from a ladder while she was trying to clean one of the curtain. When i heard the news that my mom was injured and admitted to the Emergency, i was panicked and shocked. I went to the ER right away to visit her and she was in a terrible condition at that time. She was in so much pain and kept on crying due the pain that she has to deal with at that moment. I decided to be by her side and comfort her until she feel better. I was really worried and did not know what to do to lessen her pain. I decided to pray and ask for God's grace to help lessen her pain. She never experienced this type of injury
Westview Health Center is a public health service connected to the rural and suburban Alberta Health Services sector. Currently the home care program coordinates their health care aides (HCA) under what has been deemed a “fragmented” approach. As of now, the managers seek to obtain more information about other models of supervision. Due to this request, a literature review of evidence-based articles and documents was conducted. This then resulted in the search for models that best adhered to the values of the home care program and Alberta Health Services. These values include a patient focused and quality system, compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety (Alberta Health Services, 2017). A report was created that summarized
The reporting party (RP) stated resident Thomas Cunningham age 79 DOB: 7/16/37 was admitted to Kaiser Hospital on 9/16/16 due to weakness and low blood pressure. He was later diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Infection and Sepsis. Additionally he had pressure ulcers on the heels of his feet. Thomas is bed bound and requires assistance with all his activities of daily living. According to the RP, Thomas reported he is neglected by the caregivers in the facility. Consequently Thomas has to remind the caregivers to administer his medication. The RP contacted the home bases nurse from Kaiser who reported observing the resident being left in a diaper all day saturated with urine and feces which resulted in a rash. Thomas and the nurse both reported
Designation as a trauma facility can be achieved in one of two ways: state designation or certification by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). While the Washington State Department of Health’s trauma designation is based off of the ACS certification, the ACS is still more stringent, more nationally recognized, and is less politically charged (locally) than state designation. In 2011, Providence Regional Medical Center (PRMCE) completed a $460 million construction project for two medical towers in an effort to expand capacity and allow for future growth in various departments (The Providence Story, 2016). In 2013, PRMCE requested and received an updated WA-state designation from a level III trauma facility to a level II trauma facility, and became one of six level II trauma facilities in the state. Washington currently has only one level I

According to our case study in the book, University of Pittsburg Medical Center’s customers are medical centers, multiple care sites, as well as many domestic and foreign commercial companies.
The leader of Lakeview Medical Center did not preserve the rights of Mrs. Henry. However, due to the critical issues and concerns of privacy and confidentiality being broken Mrs. Henry need to proceed with legal actions. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) was implemented to protect individual like Mrs. Henry from being violated. For the most part, quality within all health facilities is communicating information among health systems and professionals on the needed basics. Although maintaining privacy within an organization may be difficult it’s up to the leaders and staff of the organization to make sure security is being maintained. Furthermore, a breach of a patient’s health information can be a serious offense.
Being an LPN is one of the first steps I made to make a difference in the field of Nursing. As an LPN I have the ability to utilize therapeutic communication to understand my patients and deliver care according to their needs. A part of my duty is to pass medications, perform dressing change and wound care. Assist patient with repositioning, encourage patient to ambulate, report any changes in the patient
