As an avid outdoors and adventurous person I had always wanted to own a GoPro and during the winter of my sophomore year I finally bought one. I bought the GoPro hero, it was an entry level camera that shot in basic 1080p and was limited in a lot of aspects. Though basic, the camera was a perfect beginner camera. The first few videos I made were simple, often just be walking around my woods testing the camera out. Along with testing the camera out I had to teach myself how to edit videos. I used the software that came with the camera, GoPro Studio. The Studio is a good entry level software that I still use to this day but I am beginning my search to branch out and find more professional level software to expand my editing skills. But, after …show more content…
This drone is able to take off and land by it self, return to home if lost connection with controller, and streams the real time footage back to my Ipad. It was a huge investment but I am so glad I bought it. I still use the drone to this day and some of the shots I have been able to capture with my drone have been amazing. To this points some of my videos included skiing in Utah, cruising through the West Indies, cross country state meet, and skiing through my front yard. Then came Super Bowl 50 came around and my Denver Broncos were in the game. We were playing the Panthers and it was set up to be a great game. I decided to set up my camera at different locations during the game and record my family's reactions. The reactions were insane and the Broncos won the game. I posted it the next day and within hours the video was over 500 views. It was really cool to see one of my video take off like that. “GoPro: FAN REACTIONS!!! Denver Broncos S.B. 50” currently has 1,800 views. I continued to post always trying to be creative and original, whether it was Fugitive Beach, drone night flybys over Belleville, or Colorado skiing the channel was a lot of
The history of police use-of-force is rooted to the rising concerns of citizens world-wide. Power by police has consequently developed hatred, unnecessary use of force, and tarnish relationships with the community. Complaints against the police derives from police misconduct, which creates a burden socially and economically. Recently body worn cameras by police has received substantial amount of media coverage. Body worn cameras are meant to reduce complaints, excessive use of force, and improving evidence capture by the police.
A shot rings out in the night and soon after, there is a body in the streets. Within days there are multiple eye witnesses on the news, protests in the streets and silence from official sources. This has become an all too common occurrence today in regards to police where the public outcry after deadly force incident can go out of control before officials have had a chance to review the facts. Nearly 1,000 people were killed by police in 2016, with 2017 on pace to top that (Washington Post). One of the most publicly sought after improvements, as there are few answers, to his situation is the mandatory use of body cameras by law enforcement officials. In theory, body cameras would preserve a public record of at least
Evansville Police say body camera video proves one of its officers did not act improperly during a traffic stop. It stems from an incident in August that involved former city councilwoman Stephanie Brinkerhoff-Riley.
Flying drones has become much more appealing as of late because of the advances that have been made in speed and durability and the quality of the hd cameras that
This article describes how the increase of body cameras will help reduce police misconduct by recording police-citizen encounters, and serving as evidence of what happened. This article also talks about the complications that it contains. One of the complications are the privacy concerns, many people say they don't want their police encounters to be all over social media. It also says that body cameras are not the only thing that will make officers behave, it says they also need reforms of use-of-force policy and training. Even though there are many privacy concerns experts have said that those concerns can be resolved with the right policies. This is a great article to use because it appeals to
This one is quite different from the regular police brutality cases you see, this time they have footage of it. The police is claiming that the man had a knife, but if you see the footage you can clearly see the man running away from the police before they tried to handcuffing him .The officers later said Harmon threatened them with a knife, but the police is saying they feared for his life because the man was supposedly with a knife and the officer claims that the man used the knife to threaten them. But when you see the footage you clearly can see the man running away while the police yelled I will shoot you , then he goes right ahead and shoots a man in the back while he tries to escape.
At first glance, it might be compelling to correlate the cutback in use-of-force incidents and complaints adjacent to the police with the introduction of body cameras. Body-worn camera video provides quantitative data on rates and types of confrontation that may explain imbalances in use of force between individual officers. During these studies, the experimental period was approximately one year, which was held during 2012-2013. Table 3: use of force, citizens’ complaints, and police public raw figures exhibit group assignment experimental shifts or control shifts was the independent variable, while the number of use of force incidents and the number of citizens’ complaints was used as the dependent variable. The table provides information
A study conducted by Cambridge University in 2012 and 2013 examined the effect of body cameras when the full local police force in Rialto, Calif., began using them. In the first year of the technology 's introduction, use of force by officers fell 60 percent, while citizen complaints against police plunged 88 percent.
A current topic of debate in the field crime enforcement is the use of officer mounted body cams. There are multiple arguments for and against the implementation of this type of technology which makes the authorization for use a tough decision for officials. Proponents of the use of bodycams argue that if both the officer and suspects know that their actions are being recorded, then they will control their behavior as to not incriminate themselves. On the other side, opponents argue that police officers may be hesitant to take the necessary steps in some cases for fear of being reprimanded for their actions.
Recently, 4K video has exploded onto the scene of affordable consumer cameras. The GoPro Hero 4 and iPhone 6s are just two examples of consumer level devices that are capable of recording 4K video. At first glance this technological advancement seems like the perfect solution to videographers who need high-resolution video, but cannot afford a cinematic camera. However, this technology is so new, there has yet to be a comparison between the various levels of devices capable of recording 4K-resolution video. Referring back to my problem statement, the goal of this method is to determine if the GoPro Hero 4 and iPhone 6s are a suitable alternative to a 4K video camcorder. The following is a list of steps taken in order to determine the effectiveness of these two devices.
Social Problem Police in any democratic society are faced with an inescapable dilemma. Their role requires them to adequately balance the legal authority they have been granted by the public (through government officials) with their responsibility to protect individual rights and to contribute to public safety. Police officers are a walking symbol of government authority. They have the power to stop, detain, question, arrest, and even use deadly force when necessary Police officers must be responsive to the wishes of the public. They must carry out the complex task while respecting important legal and constitutional protections.
For this week’s topic on technology in law enforcement, I chose to write about body-worn cameras for police officers. Many law enforcement agencies have already implemented the use of body-worn cameras due to the controversial discussions about police officers recently. A large majority of the citizens believe these cameras are a good idea, while some argue against it. One of the benefits of requiring officers to have these cameras on while on duty is that it assists in supporting police accountability by providing an actual recording of the interaction between officers and the public. This is evidence that is usually unattainable in situations and shows what the officer said or done and what the person ( criminal, suspect, etc.) has said or
Additional features include a multi-direction microphone to pick up environmental sounds as well as commentary, plus USB connectivity that makes it easy to upload video and still pictures to social media, photo or video sharing sites, and your personal website. Controls are easy and intuitive, with two push buttons controlling reset, camera memory and high-definition mode
Hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts frequently employ one or several trail cameras to scope out the local wildlife, their activity day and night and favorite locations. With so many options to choose from, it can be a challenge to choose a model that works for your particular needs. Understanding how trail cameras work can help you with that decision.
Now we told everyone to park in the Toms parking lot and walk to Alex’s from there, just in case the parents came home early there would not be a ton of cars on his street. Now we were expecting around fifty people to be at the house for the fight. When I walked in there were already over fifty and people kept pouring in. Videos had always been posted through snapchat, this is how the popularity of our event grew, but the problem with snapchat was that these videos were only ten seconds clips and scattred clips of the fight. When promoting this event we advertised we would live stream through Periscope. Bobby Tedesco and John Hilpert were in charge of the stream and they did a great job, the entire night was streamed live to the internet where we averaged fifty views throughout the whole night. I still littered my snapchat with videos and with the number of people there they did
