Haiti: A Place To Travel Around The World

From the start life has always been a battlefield for me and my family. In Haiti my father had studied to become an engineer despite his poor upbringing and my mother had worked multiple jobs to help support the family. Life in Haiti had already been tough but after a coup d’état and an election there was finally hope that Haitians would have to live under a repressive government no longer. The new government created hope which was then solidified when Duvalier announced his candidacy, by this time he was already a well-known physician that took part in many public health campaigns. My father remembers when Duvalier was elected, with promises of rebuilding a broken country and the happiness that followed, but this did not last. Shortly after

Haiti Now was founded in 2010 by Alex Lizzappi. A successful Miami businessman today, Alex’s childhood was a very different story. His desire to help the Restavek children of Haiti is a reflection of his own life experiences and his understanding of how a child without a social network and social net worth can be left behind, regardless of their intelligence or potential.

Haiti is considered one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, with more than 60% of its population living in poverty. The long history of political and economic instability along with Haiti’s growing susceptibility to natural disasters has negatively impacted the long-term sustainable development of the small island. Due to the conditions of Haiti and stark division between the rich and poor, nearly half of the population lack access to education, health and economic resources necessary for growth. The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010 only further exacerbated the dire state of Haiti. Looking at the country today, there seems to be little productivity. However, most are unaware that Haiti was once one of the richest colonies in the New World. What was once called one of the richest colonies in the New World has become a country that today, is a long way from realizing the effective goal of "building back better." Haiti, already an impoverished nation, appears in many ways to have barely started recovery six years later, despite the alleged $2 billion dollars and more in foreign aid. Media points out that schools are being rebuilt, and some residents are now beginning to move out of the encampments, rediscovering a sense of community. But jobs and a sense of security remain a mystery.

In the Caribbean Sea, located south of the Gulf of Mexico, lies the 149th largest nation in the world, The Republic of Haiti. Since its discovery in 1492, Haiti has experienced a multitude of dictators and inconceivable political and economic turmoil lasting intermittently, over the last 300 years. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the nation of Haiti, its politics and social relations, its economics and resources, and lastly the United States’ interests in regards to the Nation.

Brief history… Haiti takes up about 1/3 of the land of the island Hispaniola, neighboring the Dominican Republic. The whole Island was once under the control of Spain in 1942 after Columbus made an appearance. In the 17th century, France colonized on part of the Island and renamed it Saint-Dominigue. It wasn’t until 1803…300 years, tens of thousands of African slaves, and one hierarchal social system later, did this chunk of land become the independent republic, Haiti. (1).

Haiti is a Caribbean country. It occupies the western third of the island of Hispaniola. It is the third largest Caribbean nation with a population of 10.4 million which makes it the most populous full-member state of the Caribbean community. Haiti is also the poorest country in the Americas as measured by the human development index. Haiti is so poor that people used to work as restavecs(unpaid household servant).half of the children in Haiti are unvaccinated.2%of the total population are hiv +.because of poverty only the sanitation condition of Haiti is very poor which results in increase of diseases.

Introduction: Today, developed societies are fabricated on obtaining information about the current world through multi billion dollar news corporations which can be be accessed from televisions, papers, websites, and radios. Since the general public is accustomed to this manner, these substantial publishers can effortlessly mold the population's beliefs to suit their desired ideals by reporting on news with incorporated propaganda and subjectivity. When I think of Haiti I think of music, waves crashing and beautiful homes and places to be but, all I know is that Haiti is in the Caribbean islands and it is an island. My parents have not gone to or lived in Haiti so my parents have no idea of what it looks like. But the thing that makes me feel bad is that people think that Haiti looks very poor but they are wrong.

The purpose of this paper is to showcase a business cultural file on the country of haiti. Many historical events influenced current business activities. Other influences include social institutions such as labor unions and religion as well as traditional customs, foods and holidays.

The caribbean is where a small island, contains two countries within its borders and a long history of conflict. Haiti and the Dominican Republic are two different country, with completely different cultures, from religion, to the food they eat, Two countries, with two different, yet correlating stories. A story of conflict is what unites these two countries. This paper will attempt to analyse that story, and answer how this small island came to be divided into two countries, and inhabited by two peoples of such different cultures. This paper will also take a small look at the results of this history, and it’s effects on both countries.

I helped build a house for a needy family in Haiti. While there, I realized the impact one action could have on others. When I returned home from the trip, I carried out this realization through volunteer work in a nursing home- something I never thought I would be doing.

Off the Gulf of Mexico, lies one of the most densely populated and least developed countries in the Western Hemisphere with a population of almost 10 million people. The country faces many natural disaster and challenges, including a poor educational system, lack of sanitary water access, and inferior living conditions. This country is Haiti.

I am living in a poor country, which is affected a lot by the globalization phenomenon; we are affected by it politically, economically, socially, technologically, and environmentally. It happens in different form: international trade, direct foreign investment, migration and diffusion of technology.
