The Hammurabi Code (The Code) was produced by the Babylonian Conqueror, Hammurabi (reigned 1792-1750 B.C.E.), to maintain his empire with a code of law. The Hebrew Law (The Law), commonly known as The Law of Moses, was given to the Hebrew people at Mt. Sinai by god as a law set. This essay shows the comparison and differences between the Hammurabi Code and The Law of Moses. The Code and The Law are both based on the principle of lex talionis, a latin term that means the "law of retaliation," whereby offenders suffered punishments resembling their violations, hence the term "eye for an eye."
