Hardships In The Outsiders

When writing The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton built her story around several key themes that readers could identify. After reading this book, I'm confident I have found a few of them. Stick with your people and uniqueness conquers wealth were probably lesser themes Hinton included for us to become conscious of. There is a bigger theme though. I believe stand in the shoes of people who are different is the most worthy overall theme for this book, and is supported with three examples from the text. First, when Ponyboy undergoes a revelation while talking to Cherry, also when (example 2 here), and finally when (example 3 here).

Everyone has had hardships in their life, but some people overcome them better than others, but Even though the hardships they always influence your life for the better in one way or another. Hardships can influence a person's life by making them stronger.

Serious events can cause change in a person's life. S.E. Hinton's novel The Outsiders tells a story about a teenage boy, Ponyboy, that lives with his brothers, Darry and Sodapop. Pony and his gang are all poor Greasers so they are constantly mugged by the privileged Socs. Since the Socs and Greasers do not get along and are constantly fighting each other, the kids are almost always injured. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy learns a lot of important lessons because of the events that take place. Pony learns that all Socs are not mean, that Darry does love him, and that there is lots of good in the world. He learns many different things that help his life; however, the most valuable lesson is that all Socs are not rude.

The title of the story is The Outsiders. S.E. Hinton wrote it. Dell Publishing published the book. The main characters include Ponyboy, Darry, Soadapop, Dally Winston, Johnny, Cherry, Two-Bit, and Marcia.

“The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.” The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton about a group of boys who face many challenges and hardships together. The novel is based off adversity and how although it could have negative impacts it could still bring some positivity like finding the real image of actions, overcoming fears, and bringing a family together.

“The Outsiders”, by S.E. Hinton, is centered around Ponyboy’s path to maturity and the life lessons he learns along the way. The novel follows Ponyboy, a greaser, and his gang’s conflict with the Socials, a rival gang. In it, he learns to not judge people hastily and reject gang mentality. Ponyboy also loses his innocence. Have you ever thought about how life would be like without your family and friends? Throughout this novel, The Outsiders, By S.E. Hinton, three brother share many common conflicts between each other. Every brother and sister have been in fights or arguments, but after everything, you still love them. Darry, Soda, and Pony have changed dramatically throughout the novel.

“The Outsiders” identifies the 60’s, illustrating the violence between groups, often involving a group’s social class. For instance, the violent tensions between the Socs and Greasers lead to Bob’s death, Johnny’s death, as well as many injuries throughout both gangs. The book “The Outsiders” is written by S.E. Hinton and is portrayed through the eyes of a high school student in Tulsa, OK where S.E. Hinton grew up. Hinton began writing “The Outsiders” in 1965 at the age of 17 and the book was finally published in 1967 when she was 19. The difference in perspective upon the society and social class creates issues throughout “The Outsiders” and since the Socs and Greasers assume the problems will be solved with violence, they take action.

When people go through something difficult it can change them. Making them who they are, it can change them for the bad or good. Therefore, hardships can greatly influence a person’s life by making them appreciate all the things that make life enjoyable.

The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, is a book that is full of excitement, adventure, and real-life situations. The book starts out in the daily life of a 16-year-old boy named Ponyboy. He is a part of a group called “greasers” that battle with “socs” daily. The greasers are usually poor and the socs are usually rich. One night, Ponyboy and his friend, Johnny, are walking when they get jumped by a group of socs. One of them is attempting to drown Ponyboy in a fountain, but Johnny saves his friend and kills the soc with a switchblade. They quickly run to Dally to explain what happened. He gives the boys a gun, $50, and a place to hide. They jump on a train and hide out in an abandoned church. They stay in that church for a couple weeks, then Dally

The Outsiders, made in 1983, is based on the original book made in 1967, The Outsiders. The movie copied the same plot of the book heavily, as it still portrays the same main character, Ponyboy Curtis (played by Thomas C. Howell), a fourteen year old boy living with his two brothers. This one and a half hour film shows Ponyboy’s life as a greaser, as he experiences the positive and negative sides of his family life style, and questions the benefits of the greaser’s biggest enemy; the Socials.

The Outsiders, a novel by S.E. Hinton, shares moralities that encourage themes of brotherhood and heroism with literary elements - which includes setting, point of view, characterization, conflict, plot, and theme. Each element influences the big idea of flawed heroes and friendships to readers. With her powerful novel, Hinton is able to express the necessity of unity and brotherhood within a community, despite differences in classes, ages, or ideals.

Hardships are : test that prove what you really are made of . You’re either a person who succeeds in the attempt or fails. Are you willing to learn from , and overcome problems of everyday life. In life with no struggles their no gain because we learn from our struggles.

Hardships have the power to make a break a person, as Roman poet, Horace, once said, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant”. Everyone has or will have to face adversity at some point in their lives, it is a universal truth. Although misfortunes usually have a negative connotation, depending on the struggle and how one deals with it, it is likely the person will come out of misfortune better prepared for the world. Contrastly, if a person never experienced any hardships, they would lack a sophisticated understanding of the world and lack the ability to handle difficult situations. Adversity gives people strength they can not obtain with success.

Life is always full of plight, even if we are reluctant to accept it, things happen. Sometimes it can be hard to work it out alone. We need others to help us when we cannot help ourselves. With others to help, those gray and sad memories will eventually turn into golden, pure moments. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, when several horrific things happened in a flash, Ponyboy needs to be saved from this life of violence and horror, thankfully, a loyal companion, a dog will pull him out of this swirl of chaos.
