Folklore and tales have been present throughout many centuries. Depending on the culture and location some tales get changed in order to fit in and relate to the current generation. However, often the tales remembered are used for inspiration for new stories, novels, and movies. With new stories being made mythology has eventually just become a loose reference in which the main points of classic mythology get lost. Disney’s Hercules is a great example of Greek mythology tales being used as a lesson to create an impactful story in which mythology was simply a reference. Although the Disney version of Hercules makes suitable points in describing Greek Mythology and ensuring that it’s viewers are somewhat erudite of the myths; Such as introducing heaven, the underworld, Zeus, Hera, additional gods, and incorporating various characters and creatures, it still contains discrepancy in which events actually happened in mythology.
In both the Disney movie and the written version of the myth about Hercules there are a lot of similarities. Hercules is very loved by his father and he is also a demigod in both. In both the Disney movie and the written version Hercules had to perform nearly impossible tasks. In both a girl named Meg acted as a mortal god. Also, there are a lot of differences in the Disney movie and the written version. In the Disney movie Hercules was born on Mt.Olympus and in the written version he was born in Thebes. Another difference is in the Disney movie Hercules becomes a god by performing one ultimate task. In the written version Hercules has to perform the 12 labors for Hercules to be a god.
A hero is a person who is honored by the majority of people around him/her for amazing achievements or features. Each hero has their own unique trait that makes them so heroic and special. Some heroes are honored during every time period, while others are honored at one point in time. Hercules, Perseus, and Theseus were all heroes who were honored in Ancient Greece, but only Perseus and Theseus would be considered heroic today.
Theseus, son of Athenian king Aegeus, was raised in a city near southern Greece. His mother was told by his father that if he was born a boy and became strong enough to move a boulder that guarded a sword and a pair of shoes, he could come back to Athens and claim that he is the son of Aegeus. Theseus accomplished this task easily and was ready to set off for Athens. His grandfather had a ship prepared to take him straight to Athens; however, just like his cousin Hercules, Theseus wanted to prove himself as a great hero and take risks. Theseus walked to Athens and killed every bandit in site; killing them in the ways that they killed their victims. Upon his arrival to Athens, Theseus was treated like a hero and caused the king to worry that this hero, who he didn't know was his son,

The are two different versions of Hercules: the mythicical version of ancient Greece and the more modern version of the Once Upon a Time television series; the mythic Hercules, thought self-assured, presents an unrelatable hero, while the television Hercules with his flaws and uncertainties offers a more achievable hero figure. The Mythology Hercules happens to be overconfident with his strength which he uses on a daily basis throughout
In my opinion, Hercules is an amazing example of what a hero is. First, he has strength that no other person or god has. Also, he has a lot of courage. Lastly, he is the most critical judge of his own actions. Hercules is the best hero of all Greek mythology for 3 very specific reasons, his strength, courage, and judging himself, read more to find out.
