There are several elements to take into account when buying a new hiking backpack, just like there are several elements to take into account when watching formal reviews of these same backpacks. The first element for a good review to have an adequate search title. If the video only comes up when searching the specific title, then the video is not as exposed to the public therefore making it a little irrelevant unless the person is an experienced hiker and they know exactly what they are looking for. For example when looking for the new Osprey Atmos AG 65 pack review, all that needs to be searched to put it up is “atmos backpack.” Likewise when looking for a review on the Deuter Guide 35 Plus pack, the only thing that has to be typed into the …show more content…
Each review has its own advantages and disadvantages to the quality of the filming. The Osprey review was shown outside in the snow because that is what the backpack is specifically designed for, hiking in the cold weather mountainous regions. However, sometimes the quality of the video was lost due to the fact that it was actually snowing while the video was being made. Perhaps if they would have waited until it quit snowing but there was still snow on the ground, they would have received the same target effect without having to compromise the quality of the video. Even though the quality may not have been the best that it could have been, the editing of the video was done very well. When a video is edited too much or not well enough it can cause sort of a lag between the person in the video and what the reviewer sees. This can create a confusion with the audience and they might be concerned that they missed something. In the Osprey review, the editing was done very well. Even though he switched from the full body view of him with the pack to just close ups of the pack, his speech was continuous so that the viewer does not get the sense of confusion and it just makes the video flow very nicely. While the actual video quality of the Deuter review was better than the Osprey, the poor editing skills made the video suffer. Because the …show more content…
This is an area that the Osprey review excelled in. The review was arranged spatially so that he started with the back of the pack and then moved to the top and worked his way down the front side of the pack showing all of the compartments and what they are most likely used for while on a hike. This helps the audience to follow the reviewer and have the same thought pattern which helps to understand the review and to also move through the pack and the video more effectively. While the Osprey video moved efficiently through the design of the backpack, the Deuter did not. The coherence of the review was compromised because the reviewer chose to jump around the pack from the outside to the inside then back again. It made it hard to know where each compartment that he was talking about actually was on the backpack. All of the jumping around coupled with the poor editing can cause some of the audience to become confused and make them lean toward a different
During this activity, the students will look through a recipe book, which I will provide. They will chose a recipe and prepare it. For example, if they chose to do a fruit salad they will chose four different fruits let an adult cut them up and put them into a bowl.
Do you ever wonder who made the thing you carry your books to school in, called a backpack probably not but this is really interesting. The backpack started off as something fun and started with selling 29 one year now turned into a multi million dollar buisness.
Peggy McIntosh's "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Backpack" addresses the issue of acknowledging whites' unaware privileges, thus weakening the systems of advantage to reconstruct power systems in the society from 1989 to the present. For instance, men are unconscious about their privileges in a patriarchal society while women are oppressed in the society. White people are unaware of the privileges which they take for granted while non-white communities are discriminated against repeatedly. McIntosh identities her privileges from daily life, which she also relates the patterns of white privilege and assumptions that passed down.

We had numerous required crew planning meetings to plan for the expedition, to pick our itinerary based on the mileage and activities while on the trail, to elect crew leaders and to plan to procure crew and personal gear. Since we had to carry lot of weight which included personal gear, food for 3-4 days and 4-5 liters of water, we had to plan and buy personal gear that did not take up too much volume and heavy, so there was enough room and weight available to carry the crew and Philmont gear, which included tent, clothes line, 3 stoves, fuel tanks, cooking pot/pan, rope, bear bags, tent stakes, trowel/shovel, dining fly, toilet paper, iodine tablets for water filtration, collapsible water jugs, etc. We met again in January and March to finalize the details of what we were expected to carry, to elect crew leaders, quartermaster and crew guide; we also went over trip planning and other details. I was elected the “Wilderness Guia” (Spanish for guide) for the crew, which involves helping the crew understand the principles of the Philmont Wilderness Pledge, following the leave no trace principle while on the trail, and ensuring that campsites are left clean. I also read the handbook for Philmont which covered the safety measures, necessary gear, and rules to abide while on the trip. I reviewed the Philmont website for information on do/don’ts, what to expect, physical fitness and conditioning required to take such a strenuous hike and how to prepare for the trip. Philmont participants are required to be physically prepared to carry a 35 to 50 pound pack over steep, rocky trails at elevations ranging from 6,500 to 12,500 feet. This requires a regular program of physical conditioning for at least three to six months prior to taking a trek is essential. So, my dad and I started to go on a 6+ mile practice
In this assignment, pricing strategy for backpack will be discussed. After estimation of product’s cost, demand and mark up, we have to decide an appropriate pricing strategy for setting a base price for our backpack (Lamb etal. 2016). The alternative strategies for the backpack which would be discussed is price skimming and penetration strategy. Firms benefit from price skimming from high profit margin, perceived high quality and attract customers when price lowered, while it’s more applicable with inelastic demand, also attract competitors and having difficulty in adjusting appropriate time to lower the price. Penetration strategy brought positive effects such as low input cost, and it is suitable for elastic demand product. However, might result bankruptcy if company unable to survive in the beginning, it require long period for returns and low price might be tagged with low quality. The chosen strategy for backpack is price skimming which might results better effect on our targeted segment because outdoor enthusiasts aimed at high quality.
The things the soldiers carried defined their character, both the physical things and the metaphorical things. All of the men physically carried their gear, which included things like their helmet, jungle boots, grenades, firearms, and sometimes each other. Mentally they had to carry their brutal memories of war and the terrible things they encountered. 1st Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letter from his girlfriend Martha, 2 photographs of her, and a pebble good luck charm; all of these things show that he is compassionate and cares deeply about his girlfriend. He also carried the lives of his men on his shoulders. Dave Jensen can be characterized as a hygienic person; he carried extra socks, a toothbrush, floss, soap, and foot powder. Along with his hygienic items, he carried a rabbit 's foot for good luck. Many other men carried things that symbolized important things; Norman Bowker carried a tongue from an enemy and a diary, Rat Kiley carried comic books, and Kiowa carried a pair of moccasins, an illustrated new testament, and his grandfather’s hatchet. Each man carried memories, stress, and knowledge. Personally I carry memories, that are each important in their own ways, and I carry a little wooden lady bug with me for good luck.
The author, Tim O’Brien gives us a detailed prescription of each item that the soldiers carried with them. “The things they carried were determined by necessity” (389). Each soldier took something that has huge significance and impact with them to the war front. Also a vivid description of the reason why what was kept where gave a better insight into how important each item was to the soldiers. The use of “slangs” to describe certain things, like M&M, which meant medical supplies (392) is also a significant topic in the story. “what they carried varied by mission”, “When a mission took them to the mountains, they carried mosquito netting, machetes, canvas tarps, and extra bug juice” (393). The reality with which one can relate to soldiers’s reason for carrying what they carried, is vividly described by the author. It describes how “Kiowa always took along his

In “Backpacks vs. briefcases: Steps towards Rhetorical Analysis”, Laura Bolin Carrol explains the importance of the rhetorical analysis to understand the purpose and intent of every situation. She points first how people always focus their first glance to the others physical appearance even though there is a saying that “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Through our past experiences or moments, we can conclude quickly that person or thing we are observing or analyzing. Most of the time this is done even without noticing that we are doing it, without understanding there is something behind it, and Carol explains that is the rhetorical analysis. She also explains how understanding it, and becoming proficient in it, will help to “become better
In “Backpacks vs. Briefcases: Steps toward Rhetorical Analysis”, the author, Laura Bolin Carroll describes the essentials of rhetorical analysis and how it helps us make decisions in our everyday life. She begins by explaining how we unconsciously analyze and conclude our perception of people when we meet them. This introduces the readers to rhetorical analysis. Rhetorical analysis is articulating imagery or surroundings that persuade us on our choices. Carroll believes that this is an important aspect and that we can make better conclusions if we utilize rhetorical analysis on our day-to-day encounters. She further states that there are three parts in understanding a context of rhetoric. They are (1) Exigence: events that require actions
The service life of a rope depends on the frequency of use, applications (rappelling, climbing, rope installations), speed of descent, surface abrasion, terrain, climate, and quality of maintenance. Any rope may fail under extreme conditions (shock load, sharp edges, misuse). If still on a spool, the rope must be cut to the desired length. All ropes will fray at the ends unless they are bound or seared. Both static and dynamic rope ends are secured in the same manner. The ends must be heated to the melting point so as to attach the inner core strands to the outer sheath. By fusing the two together, the sheath cannot slide backward or forward. Ensure that
Additionally, O'Brien's tone and style together create an ominous environment. The serious tone combines with his style on page 434 to convey a message that almost threatens the reader. The combined weight of the things each soldier carries takes its toll on the reader. Already feeling pulled down, O'Brien adds statements such as "the land was mined and booby-trapped" and "you could die so quickly." The ominous environment is further described with "the nights were cold... the monsoons were wet." O'Brien then proceeds to mention how the plastic poncho meant to help the men is also what is used to carry Ted Lavender after being shot. As these elements combine with one another, the reader is immersed in the hostile environment that was
We live in an age that has spoiled us rotten. Everything we need has become a given and we are no longer out scavenging for our necessities. We have mastered the art of consumerism. Our society is built and programmed to consume, stores have spread faster then a contagious disease. Over time we have come to relinquish very important knowledge that has been passed down since the beginning of time and that is surviving in the wild. There are three basic things we all need to learn how to do in order to survive the wild and that is building shelter, filtering water and finding food.
