The Presidential Debate that took place on October 9, 2016 between Donald J. Trump and Hillary Rodham-Clinton is a debate that I will always remember. This was the debate that followed the infamous leak of the misogynistic video of Donald Trump talking about sexually assaulting women. During the debates, I would watch and tweet throughout. A tweet that I read during this debate has stayed with me for months. A young woman had tweeted, “Trump might grab my butt, but Hillary would leave me in a foreign country to die.” Although the blatant overgeneralization made about Hillary Clinton’s role and overall fault in Benghazi was upsetting, it was not that part of the tweet that stuck with me. I could not help but think to myself, are we as women
Secretary of State during the Clinton Presidency, was quoted in the New York Times as saying that she “personally encountered male chauvinism in Washington” (Walsh, 2016). In her own words, Ms. Albright said: “it was the little things, whenever I raised my hand in meetings, men would always say ‘don’t be so emotional’, or would drum their fingers on the table and say I was taking too long to make decisions” (Walsh, 2016). This serves as yet another example of gender bias in politics, considering the level of respect and international prominence Ms. Albright earned while serving in this key presidential cabinet position on the world stage. If Ms. Albright achieved this level of respect, then how could Mrs. Clinton not have also led as president? It is unfortunate that gender bias continues to separate women from having their voices heard in high political office. Clearly, including women in political decisions would be the gateway to changing domestic priorities for our
The title is At Republican Debate, Candidates Are Likely to Set Sights on Ted Cruz, written by Jonathan Martin and Maggie Haberman issued on December 14, 2015. Many controversial topics have defined the previous Republican debates with Donald Trump currently leading in the polls. This article characterizes possible tactics for the final Republican debate. The subject matter of this article deals with potential Republican presidential candidates. Candidates must attack Donald Trump if they want a chance of taking him over in the polls. Some facts are based on state reporting and opinions on debate tactics. The editor does attempt to appeal to his readers' emotions by highlighting voter's concerns and issues including terrorism,
The second presidential debate demonstrates an indecisive clash between opposite personalities; the rehearsed demeanor of Hillary Clinton juxtaposes the raw audacity of Donald Trump. Despite their dissimilar appearance, the candidates employ like strategies – they deflect accusations and criticize their adversary. Clinton suffers to succeed in this format. Neither knowledge of policy nor experience in office effectively counter accusations against personal character. This observation is nonetheless irreverent. Although Trump dominates the debate format, he alienates the electorate.
I believe in this debate it didnt go as planned. In my personal opinion i think Hilary Clinton shouldve won. My reason as to why I feel this way is because, she would be the very first female president in the white house and its about time we all have a change. I think she has more to offer than Trump. In the begininng before the debate started Clinton was introduce to come out first and then Trump came out after but I feel as tho the audience was clapping and cheering more for Clinton then they were for Trump. While Donald Trump was answering some of the questions he was being asked I feel as though he made some really good points. When he was talking about how he would lower the taxes from 35 percent to 15 percent just so that people can have more money in their pockets just to pay bills or any other necessary things that needed
If I had to decide what president would be best it would definitely be between Hilary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders. Now if you really think about it Bernie Sanders is more of a better option. I can honestly name a thousand reasons why.
If voters were to review past presidential candidates’ advertisements, they would be guaranteed to come across instances where someone’s words were twisted and turned against them by their opposing party. This is a classic use of manipulation to make oneself appear to be the “good-guy.” Hence, it is not surprising that this has not changed in the 2016 election. However, what has changed is that there is a woman running for president—she’s cunning, but her arguments are distorted. With clips of girls evaluating their figures while playing interviews with harsh words, Clinton asks, “Is this the president we want for our daughters?” In one of her new ads, “Mirrors,” Hillary Clinton follows suit and manipulates potential voters into a prejudiced opinion of Donald Trump by taking his words out of context to exploit him.
She mentioned that she was political experience and Trump does not. Clinton said that she is a problem solver and Trump is not. Clinton also attacked his bombastic personality, saying that he is not fit to be president. Knowing that Americans are cautious of Trump’s personality, Clinton’s attacked served as a tactic to get Trump to respond. Clinton wanted a response from Trump that would negatively portray him. Her bait was successful because after her speech, Trump tweeted that she “is unfit to lead” because she does not discuss radical Islam.
This election has been quite a ride. 25% of people dislike both candidates equally, where as in the 2012 election only 11% disliked both(“One in Four Americans Dislike Both Presidential Candidates”). The second presidential debate has been one of the worst in recent history, but there was one clear winner. Hillary Clinton won the October 9th debate because she stated her policies clearly, treated everyone with respect, and told the truth.
Throughout the documentary, I was most shocked by the sexualization of women on the news. Rachel Maddow stated that nearly 14% of her feedback she receives on her show includes ‘I hate you’ mail, threats to kill her, and all of these things, as Maddow states, “have to deal with gender and sexuality.” Another shocking statement made during this portion of the documentary was when Jay Leno asked in a playful tone, “are they professional newscasters
The female population makes up almost 43% of the voting population in America. Insulting one woman may as well be insulting all women, especially when Trump stated that a woman was disgusting because she was pumping milk. The insults go on and on whether it be toward a race, religion, or sex. The thought that a man has called women dogs, slobs, and fat pigs is outlandish and horrid. Someone wanting to become president should refrain from insulting anyone. Women are not some bystanders without a voice anymore; we do have an opinion, we do have a voice and being called a dog or slobs is an issue for all women everywhere. On April 16, 2015 Donald Trump tweeted “If Hillary Clinton can not satisfy her husband what makes you think she can satisfy America?” This tweet was in reference to Mr. Clinton’s Monica Lewinsky affair, but to try and insult a highly regarded and respected Secretary of State is appalling. Regarding Megyn Kelly, another victim of Mr. Trump’s insults, Trump clearly stated that “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.” This statement is not only sexist towards a respected news anchor but rude and
The 2016 presidential election has not only been chaotic, but surprising. Many of us were not expecting to end up with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as our two presidential candidates. Clinton and Trump might not have have been our first choices, but in the end who is going to be the superior leader? As an informed student on the upcoming election I would personally vote for Donald Trump because of his views on gun control, economy, immigration and foreign policy. Donald is a successful man and did not come into this race as a politician and we might just need a businessman over an experienced liar.
Between these two candidates, Senator Hillary Clinton won the First Presidential Debate in my opinion. She was the most composed and answered each of the moderator's questions. Her answers were well thought out and would elaborate her answers as well. One aspect I appreciated from Hillary Clinton was she was civil in that she never raised her voice or spoke out of anger, compared to Donald Trump. She also kept her instigations to a minimum, meaning she did not try to criticize her adversary every chance she got. Donald Trump on the other hand, was all over the place. Right from the start, he never fully addressed the moderator's questions. Trump would either briefly mention an answer or completely go off-topic about something else. It seemed
For the first debate, Hillary and Donald debated how they were going to bring more companies and jobs for citizens to America. For the second debate, they argued how each of them showed appropriate behavior towards the youth. In the last debate, they debated how each of them interpreted the constitution and relayed their views for the role the supreme court. Knowingly in the first and third debate, the viewers of the debate needed to know many political issues going on in todays current events. For instance, they talked about the countries unemployment rate and immigrant issue. In addition, in the second debate the citizens viewing the debate had to know an extended amount of background information involving public issues between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the press. The issues would include Donald Trumps sexual harassment and racism allegations and Hillary's lost of governmental property. Donald Trump displayed a demanding and somewhat entertaining attitude towards his viewers in his speeches of the the first debate, however he became defensive going into the second and third debate due to his negative reputation brought forward from the second debate. Hillary Clinton’s attitude remained influential and sometimes offensive throughout all her speeches of the
Hillary Clinton is a strong female and taking on a males role if elected to be president. She will be faced with Balance defined as, ”to balance masculinity and femininity” (Gender, p.143). Of course, this is exciting to see and the fact the she can balance masculinity is amazing and many females will look up to her as the new ideal. Many males don’t believe that females can do the job because of our gender. Being a female don’t mean that we are less capable of preforming a males job and there for we are forced to prove them wrong and balance but being masculinity and femininity.
Her daughter Chelsey introduced her, while Kelly Clarkson “Fight Song” played in the background. The occasion was a pivotal moment that will go down in history, regardless if she becomes president or not. The introduction and song aided the audience to accept her as the potential president as she received support from the audience. She had a positive impact since the audience appeared to have certain expectations while listening to the speech about the person, topics and occasion itself. She utilize the moments of speaking to reach the audience expectations when discussing legislation, politics, opportunity, careers, education, health and loving life. Personally, it sounded like a very effective strategy that appears creditable. The audience
