What exactly is honor? Honor is a sense of integrity and responsibility. Honor is doing what someone believes to be the right thing to do. To some people honor even means putting others before themselves, and doing what is best for everyone in the situation. In the story The
Crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor was faced with a very challenging decision at the end.
When he is was accused of witchcraft and brought to the court, he is given the chance to confess to being a witch and name others who also might be witches. He decides it is better to die than to continue to live a lie. Proctor's last act was an act of honor because he died for his name, he died for his family, and he died for his religion.
