We’re 12 hours away from the most important day of my life, and I can’t even eat! Tomorrow is Choosing Day. The day when I decide what job I will have to fulfill for the rest of my life. I live in the ward of the castle with George, Jenny, Alyss, and the worst of them all, Horace. He always ridicules me for how small I am compared to him. Everybody knows for sure what they are going to be, but Horace has mentioned facts that may stop me from entering Battleschool. Oh, how much I want to be in Battleschool, to train and become a knight! I just ran away from Horace with his nasty comments about me. Man, do I despise him! I have found rest in a section of a big tree in the castle yard, where I am disguised from the rest of the world. As night …show more content…
I ask for Battleschool, but get rejected, so I ask for Horseschool, but get rejected. Then the Baron receives a letter from the mysterious Ranger, Halt. The Baron reads it, then says he’ll have to think about it, and dismisses everyone, and leaves the note on the table. It’s now nighttime, and I’m scaling the castle wall, so I can get to the letter in the Baron’s study. I grab the letter, and before I can read it, I sense a movement and turn to see Halt, the Ranger. He takes me down to the Baron, and they show me the letter, it says that Halt, the Ranger, wants me to be his apprentice. I go to sleep, and the next day I’m on my way to Halt’s cottage that’s not to far away from the castle. I meet Halt, and he makes me do a bunch of chores for him, because I’m an apprentice right now. Eventually, Halt runs out of chores for me to do, then while we are waiting for our dinner to cool down, we sit and talk. He tells me that Rangers have to keep an eye on enemies of the castle, and have to know routes for potential attacks. He said that a Ranger had saved our castle and others that we are in an alliance with from the dreadful Morgarath and his evil Wargal monsters, because the Ranger had kept an eye on Morgarath, and warned the

Roman Poet, Horace’s quote says, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” I agree with his stand on adversity because though it may seem bad, it can lead to finding your true self. If one was not put under enough duress. Then they wouldn't find out what type of person that are now will they find out how they will react to certain things. Having your character developed even more so may potentially lead to a brighter future, because then you may qualify for a position somewhere you want to be.
The Roman poet Horace states that “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” By this, he explains the role these hardships play in shaping and developing a person’s character. I agree that adversity not only elicits talents, but also brings out the hidden aptitudes within a person that which they were unaware of before. Through learning experiences and observations, I have witnessed the significant outcomes that come from the result of adversities.
Yesterday, at approximately 9am, the streets of Verona faced its third civil brawl from two feuding families: the Capulets and Montagues.
Horace states, "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant," meaning that differences in a person's life, meaning misfortunes as a whole, has the ability to change a person's personality and character. This can go two separate ways though, it can make them into a better person, or a worse person. But the overall idea that Horace stated is easy to agree with.
In the book Castle In The Attic the main character William must be brave, caring, courageous, and persistent on his journey. William in the book starts out being mad at his nanny Mrs. Phillips because after 10 years of caring for him she decided to move back to England. She gives William a castle for a going away present. William loves the castle but still wantes Mrs. Phillips to stay. The castle came with one knight, but he was no ordinary figurine. When William came up to the attic that night the knight came to life. In shock, William drops him and runs down the attic stairs. A little later he goes back up and greets the knight, Sir Simon, and the knight tells him his story about a wizard named Alastor and how he saved Sir Simon’s father’s
Adversity is like a buffet, you have so many choices they are available like Roman Horace says. It’s a huge part in our everyday life. It’s something that can’t go by without being knowledge it has a huge effect that will be noticed in so way or form.
Archie’s house to play board games. They both agreed that they had never had that much fun before, and they even made plans to hang out the next day.
"Don't go Johnny don't go, what about your children you can't leave them behind," I yelled.
I don’t like to reminisce on the event, yet when iris plastered all over the papers, 25 years after the incident, I can’t help but remember the affair. Even though I have tried to move on, it will always be a part of my past. A dark, grim, part of it that haunts me up to this day.
“I’ve lived here a little over ten years. I lived on a small farm on the outskirts of Camelot until I was nine years old. I lived there with my parents and my sister. That is, until King Urien’s men raided our village and killed my family. All three of them,” he said, his voice catching ever so slightly before continuing. “Owen, another farmer and family friend was a widower. He took me in and has been a father to me ever since. He had no children so it was just the two of us. Much of my time was taken up by farming chores, but Owen knew I dreamed of being a knight and made sure I continued on with my sword lessons. He’s a good man.”

I wish I was a beautiful little fool, oblivious to the motives of both my lover and my husband. As I drive away with the imposter, away from the place where I would have reinserted my power and dominance and received the satisfaction of material wealth, I was blindsided and made to look like the fool I dreamed to be. Your wealth misleads the con hidden underneath your magnificent suits and the extravagant parties thrown under your leadership. Looking at you next to me, heartbroken as if I were the one that betrayed you seems absurd to me in the least. My biggest regret was not leaving Tom but, crying into your crime ridden shirts, wasting tears that could be shed for a more powerful man. Are you really the great Gatsby that others perceive
The couple sits on their couch in the living room of their large two story home, they moved into early in the summer, newly built, beautifully decorated. Both staring at their flat screen T.V watching pictures of their son flash across the screen with tears in their eyes.
A Roman poet named Horace once said “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant” Which is a quote that many people can deeply connect with or agree with. Although some people can say this quote is true from experience, many people cannot. I don’t agree wholeheartedly with Horace’s words for a few reasons.
