Joan of Arc is one of the most courageous and bravest women who has ever lived. She is a french heroine and a roman catholic saint. She was born on January 6, 1412 and unfortunately passed away on May 30,1431 at the age of 19. Since she was raised in a poor family she decided to travel to france to confront the uncrowned Dauphin to reclaim his throne and defeat the english people. Joan of Arc was sent with the french troops to the siege of Orleans and advanced to importance after the siege was finished after nine days. She was later taken captive and burned alive for heresy. However, as she expected seven years after her death, France was reunited since the English were conquered and Charles was anointed the new king. She had saved France from defeat against England. In honour of her triumph, she is often called the Maid of Orleans. When Joan of Arc was born the Hundred Years War was over half way over. She was considered a French saint, a national heroine, and was called the Maid of Orleans. She was born to peasant parents in Domremy-la-Pucelle in France in 1412. Joan attended mass daily and visited the church on a regular basis. It was not only for being a heroine and saint she was recognised for but she was also recognised as a leader and founder of the feminists. Joan became a role model to many women as she symbolised individual and independent thinking. Joan helped show that women could fight and had the same strength as men. A little while after Joan’s death, women stepped out of their traditional jobs/roles and adopted the characteristics of men. Women were allowed to fight in wars, play in male sports, be educated male schools and universities, be employed as equals alongside men in the workforce, and become more than just the usual housewife.
