How did the events in the Novel change the course of history? How would things be different today if the events didn’t happen? The events in my book changed the course of history by having the Civil War. The Civil War started when the North and South were having trouble with trade. The biggest reason for the Civil War was slavery of African Americans. The North wanted free rights for all and the South wanted to make lots of money from slaves. By having this happen we do not longer have slavery in the United States. Also if we did not have men like Noah going to fight in the war the North probably would not have won. They needed many men to quit the lives they had and start new ones up, by fighting for the North or the South. The Civil War

Do ever wonder how something can lead to other things? Did you know that the war of 1812 can lead to the civil war? The war of 1812 is important because it cut off supply with the enemy. The war of 1812 was important, it was significant to American History, and it led to the Civil War. The war of 1812 was significant to American History because it destroyed the Indians ability to resist the Americans, and it led to the Civil War because of one commander that the other side hated for winning a giants them.
Lars Brownworth took the pleasure of writing the novel “Lost to the West.” Where within this he elaborates on a period of history that is seamlessly ignored in history. Courses instructing this discipline habitually over look the ‘new’ Rome deeming it insignificant. Brownworth’s dominant emphasis is too merely educate his readers on this gap in history. Which he does commendably however; his interpretations are not ineludibly bipartisan and quite candidly that leads to the book to be less successful in its purpose. These biases include: subjectively identifying other nations, glorifying his obviously favorite emperors and villain-zing his less favorite. While his approach is chronologically adequate he plagues his book by not only the previously stated biases, but creating the book too brief, and having to decide what information is substantial to retain; which he decides.
During the time of the civil war, there were a lot of things that happened that affected the outcome of the civil war. When this war started, both sides had reason to believe that they would win, but both were surprised that the war was going to be longer and much more difficult than expected. After this long and difficult war, it is safe to be said that the turning points and advantages that helped the Union win this war were the resource ratio advantage, the population differential advantage, the battle of Gettysburg, Emancipation Proclamation, and Sherman’s March.
Throughout the course of history, one of the most pivotal points was the American Revolution. The independence the colonies gained from England allowed for the creation of the way we live today. However, it is important to know that while some aspects of our country today are based on rules set during the revolution, America, as we know it today, was shaped drastically by the Civil war. The Civil war acted as a second revolution in our country, pushing us closer to how society is now. Historians have wondered what caused the Civil War, was it a matter of slavery? Politics? Or another underlying issue? Historians such as James McPherson, William Gienapp, and Susan-Mary Grant have explored events that occurred before the Civil war and ultimately describe why the South succeeded.
The Civil War was a very significant time in American history. The Civil War was fought between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America. Most people say the Civil War was a war that was fought to end slavery, which it was for most of the population. The Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union. The South wanted slaves to help run there farming plantations. Southern slave owners did not want their way of life threatened or changed, life had been the same for them for generations. Those Americans from the North were considered more progressive and had more influence from other cultures which helped open their eyes to the horrors of slavery. But for many of the men, going to war was a chance to escape boredom and some came because it was the right thing to do (p. 28).
The Event That Changed Everything Have you ever wanted something so bad you were willing to fight or even risk your life for it?Texas is an amazing example, they would fight for whatever they wanted or felt like they needed. Texas seceded along with 10 other states because of the ruling of President Lincoln, and that was when the war broke out(Background Essay). The Texans wanted protection over slavery, their love for Texas, and states rights so much that they fought against their own country for those reasons. Protection of slavery was a very big deal towards the Texans.
Every chapter in the historical novel 10 Days that Unexpectedly Changed America by Steven Gillon holds significance in the shaping of modern America, but "The Battle of Antietam" undoubtedly had the greatest influence in American history. Prior to this battle Lincoln did not have enough power to strive towards freeing southern slaves and had only hoped to keep the union together. However, after his victory at this battle the president was able to put forward the Emancipation Proclamation which required that all slaves in rebellious states be freed. The principle that one person could not own another set in motion progression for racial equality for years to come. The freeing of slaves not only affected each individual that was forced into servitude. After the war was over, which likely would not have ended in a union victory if not for the Battle of Antietam, the economy began to shape into its present form. The north was thriving while the south was left economically devastated. Not only did the war shape the current economy, it also changed the way political parties compete with each other. It also became a trend to not elect those from far down south into office. Lastly, if
The Civil War impacted the course of history forever. But it had to start somewhere and the Battle of Fort Sumter marked the start. The Battle of Fort Sumter had various causes and effects.
“The Civil war was a turning point in American history, one that helped define who Americans are today.” There were many deaths and sacrifices by all of the soldiers who participated in the war. There lives and their futures were at stake, but the still fought, because they believed in what they were fighting for. However, the Civil War made a dramatic change in how all American citizens were treated, due to their efforts.
Compare an event in the novel with a situation in your own life OR one that is reflected in today's world. Similarities? Differences? What is your reaction to this event? Does it make you angry, sad or excited? Why? Did you learn anything new?
The events that comes to mind when most of people talk about the U.S history are the Civil War and the Reconstruction. The Civil War was the turning point in the U.S history, while the Reconstruction brought order out of chaos of the Civil War. After all these, the U.S grows rapidly and becomes a superpower today. From my perspective, the most important cause of the Civil War is the conflict between the northern capitalism economy and the sourthern plantation economy. And the Reconstruction did spread freedom and brought more oppotunities, but it still remain a varirty of problems.
The Civil War is known as a turning point in America, the road to ending slavery, while first turning a nation against each other.
In the Civil War the North had many advantages over the South. The South was outnumbered, out supplied, and pushed into a corner using military tactics. Many things changed because of the Civil War. The military tactics used by the North changed how war was fought from then on. Many changes were made politically; some were only temporary, while others were permanent. After the war was over, the country was reunited and the image of the soul and duty of our country redefined.
One event that I learned in class today is the civil war. This event got my attention because it told me what the price of freedom really is. The Civil War started when free state slaves and the slave states was at constant war with each other ( not physical but verbal). The slave states wanted to keep slaves (obviously) and the free states wanted all slaves to be free, so the North and the South did not want to compromise and the south seceded from the north. One other major event that lead to the Civil War was the taking over of Fort Sumter, that day the confederate army lead by Beauregard took the base over and the leader of the Union Major Robert surrendered and left the next day. This event lead to a lot of wars in the future to come,
