I have seen how people go about their daily routines in many different ways compared to mine. The main cultural influence that has been present in my life since day one is the closeness of my family. All my cousins are very close it has often odd when I hear about families with weak relationships and small size. Another influence that has shaped my behavior was my exposure of extreme poverty and extreme wealth while living in Mexico. Lastly, a cultural influence that has shaped my belief system is my education.

Culture is a very important part of society and powers the way people live their lives, such as family relationships, home lives, and education. In the book Tears of a Tiger, by Sharon Draper, the characters have a different culture than mine. In the beginning, Andy (the main character) gets into a car accident due to drunk driving. He had four people in the car and his best friend Rob, was sitting in the front seat with his long legs on the dash. They hit a cement wall, Robbie went through the windshield and did not make it. The characters then have to deal with a very tough situation: the loss of a close friend. Every character has a different culture in which they practice daily and live through in this situation.
Does a person’s culture define who they are? People who come from different cultures view the world differently. Their views are based on how they were raised and customs that were taught to them by their parents and society. In Born Confused by Tanuja Desai Hidier, Dimple Lala has difficulty choosing between two cultures. She cannot decide if she should be loyal to American culture or Indian culture. Due to the fact that she is exposed to two cultures, she struggles with who she really is.

Several factors affect the formation of one’s culture, Palispis, E. (2007) quoted Sir Edward Tylor, “Culture… refers to that complex whole which includes knowledge, beliefs, arts, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as member of society.” (Palispis, E., 2007) In this context culture is something we acquire from the people we have lived with since we were born, it is not something a person can learn overnight nor can be disposed effortlessly.
Culture by definition is the identity or feeling of belonging to a group. It is part of a person's self-conception and self-perception and is related to nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, locality or any type of social group that has its own distinct culture. To me that definition couldn't be more spot on but let's go more in depth over the past few months in my English class we have been trying to learn what our culture is and what part culture plays in our daily lives so in this essay I will be sharing with you what I think culture is what it means to me and how I think it impacts our way of living and the way we look at each other as human beings and how we treat each other and how all this makes up my culture
