How Does Macbeth Have Too Much Power

Macbeth demonstrates an important lesson. It demonstrates that having too much power makes people make harsh decisions. It also shows you should trust your best judgement and not always the one that you are told to do. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare Macbeth is visited by witches that tell him he will be king. He first thinks nothing of it, but when his wife hears of the prophecy she pushes him to fulfil his “destiny”. His wife convinces him to kill the king so he can be crowned. After killing the king, he executes the chamberlains to show his new power as king. Macbeth and his wife kill, or try to execute the next people in line, to ensure that they stay in power. They become greedy for power and abuse the power they already have. At the end of the play Macbeth and his wife get what they deserve, which is death.
Power when abused, can create more enemies than allies. Macbeth had turned on all his trusted friends because of his need for the crown. His lack of friends and allies leaves him exposed and vulnerable. Which allows his wife to prey on …show more content…

The surface is a normal historic story of a kingdom’s worst ruler. The witches say "Fair is foul, and foul is fair”, which foreshadows saying that they will get what they deserve and they will think it is unfair, when what is fair is death. Which also shows that Shakespeare wanted to point out that people might think that something is unfair when it is truly fair and when something seems to be fair it is viewed as unfair to another. Shakespeare writes many of his plays where you can read them on the surface but when you look beyond the surface he has a clear motive for his writing. Shakespeare's stories aren’t meant to be just read on the surface.
