Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous detectives out there. He came to the conclusion that doctors could be the most possibility of the greatest criminals that is out there. His conclusion is based in facts and is conclusive. Doctors make the best criminals for many reasons. Doctors are highly intelligent and capable of higher things.
Sherlock holmes more or likely said that doctor make the greatest criminals because doctors know all about medicine. They know how the body works. If the doctor wants to kill you he can make it look like it was either suicide or an accident. A doctor can easily put poison inside of the medicine or he can “accidentally” give you the wrong type of medicine. A doctor could have a knife, but a doctor known
I think Holmes came to the conclusion that "doctor's make the greatest criminals" because Holmes even said himself, "When a doctor does go wrong he is the first of criminals. He has nerve and he has knowledge." I agree to Holmes' statement because doctors know of all sorts of medications and poisons that could be used to put harm onto someone. Doctors are perfectionists, they make it their business to be careful with even the simplest of steps in practice. Doctors would be "great" because they would take that attention to detail with them and be careful and persistent in the actions, and are trusted in the community.
H.H. Holmes was a great example to future serial killers. An “expert” like this must have a knowledge of how to murder people and get away with it while, at the same time, get something out of it. Although he was a horrible person and admitted to murdering 27 people and was hung for his crimes, H.H. Holmes was a great example to future serial killers with his fake credibility, dishonest sources of income, manipulative personality, and ability to cover up crimes.
He might could have said that because doctors would know of all sorts of medications and poisons that could be used to kill someone discretely without arousing suspicion. If they were using a knife, they would know all the vital areas of the human body that would cause death quickly and quietly. It was suspected that Jack the Ripper had medical training because of the precision with which some of the organs were removed from his victims. Today though, doctors would have a much harder time because of forensics being able to detect poisons. So though Holmes would be right back in the old days, I'd say a forensic scientist or a police detective would have the advantage in modern times over a doctor. They could cover their trail better. Also Holmes
Physicians are Flawed Heroes: Vulnerable to Human Imperfections The Father of Modern Medicine, William Osler, once stated “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.” Could a famous physician be vulnerable as well to a doctor-patient relation? Nobody is impeccable and every person has their unique tragic flaws.
The adventure of the speckled band by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and is part of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The story follows Sherlock Holmes and dr. Watson as they investigate the death of a woman. It turns out her stepfather a doctor wanted to kill her and her sister so he could keep his wife's money. He used got a snake to go into the room and bite her and the poison couldn't be identified because the snake was from India and they were in Britain. It's because of this smart thinking that Sherlock says doctors make the best criminals.
In the short story The Adventure of the Speckled Band written by Arthur Conan Doyle, the main character, Holmes, makes a statement saying that “doctors make the greatest criminals.” Holmes was correct when saying that statement for several reasons. Doctors know how to use poison and medicines, know vital areas of the body, and are perfectionists.
Sherlock Holmes was overall a decent show. It was not very exciting. It did not take long to figure out who the killer was, he appeared too soon. And the best part, trying to figure out who or why. Benedict Cumberbatch made a good Sherlock Holmes. He talked and acted just like a detective. He came off as smart and determined. He made for a good Sherlock. I thought that Martin Freeman was alright. He was not really a whole lot of help, but him and Sherlock worked well together. They balanced out each other's personalities. It was also confusing about Dr. Watson’s cane. Did he really need it? Was he faking it? That part was confusing. But overall the show was decent.
Imagine, being the best detective in the city of London. Finally, solving a huge mystery. But, you make a bad decision of letting the criminals go. That is probably the worst thing Sherlock Holmes ever did in an investigation. In my opinion, Sherlock Holmes positively made the wrong decision.
The story The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of the Sherlock Holmes short stories. In this short story a young bride to be Helen shows up at Holmes office. She is panicked and in fear that her step father is trying to murder her, just like he had murdered her sister before she got married. Although there was no evidence he had, Helen is experiencing the same things her sister had told her she had before she died. Helen’s step father Sir Grimesby Roylott is an odd man and doctor that many fear. He keeps strange company at the estate; He befriends a band of Gypsies on the property and keeps a cheetah and a baboon as pets. Holmes had agreed to take Helen’s case after she had told him everything and investigated. At the end of the story the truth comes out that indeed the doctor was Helen’s sister’s murder. Holmes concludes that "doctors make the greatest criminals”. Doctors know different medications and poisons that could be used to kill somebody. They also know the human body and how it works. Leaving them with multiple ways to cause harm to people. Lastly, doctors are trusted and respected because they are supposed to save lives not murder.
When Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes, the people in London was suffering with the many crimes and the extended distance between the rich and the poor. Also the biggest villain Moriarty was symbolizing the British government, showed that the government was doing nothing for their people. Also in that time was The Industrial Revolution, because that farmer became worker and farm became factory, and the rich people became more powerful. Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes to show the situation of that time and also to show the dark side of humanity.
Sherlock Holmes is an incredibly intelligent man. He has seen uncountable mysterious criminal cases and been the only man capable of solving it. I believe this gives him the experience necessary to declare who would make the best criminal. Holmes stated that "Doctors make the best criminals" at the conclusion of The Adventure of Speckled Band By Arthur Conan Doyle. It is entirely realistic that Holmes can make this conclusive statement because he is a well known detective whom has a lot of experience with criminals.
In the story “The Adventure of the Speckled Band”, Dr. Sherlock Holmes states his belief that doctors make the best criminals. In my opinion, I consider that to be true. That may not be the case nowadays, but if you put into account that this was during the 1800s, then you will see that he was correct. Back in the 1800s, doctors had access to poisons that weren’t detectable in an autopsy back then. Also, they had an extensive knowledge on human anatomy to know how to kill a human as effortlessly as possible, without a trace. Finally, they were very well respected, and weren’t likely to be considered criminals. If you put these factors into account, you will realize that there was no other person back then that was better equipped to kill someone than a doctor.
A doctor who also happens to be known as a criminal might as well be called a mad scientist. To become a doctor, it is vital that one must attend medical school and take classes in the science department. A doctor must understand exactly how the human body works in order to treat certain diseases, infections, viruses, etc. Most people would expect a doctor to deeply and genuinely care about each and every patient, but what if there was a doctor, say Grimesby Roylott, who only cared about himself?
Sherlock Holmes In my opinion, Sherlock Holmes made the wrong choice. In the first place, he could of went to jail or the criminal could attempt to do it again Sherlock Holmes blamed an innocent man by thinking the innocent man did it. Sherlock Holmes thought he had it planned out by thinking the plumber did it. But the criminal had it all planned out the criminal probably thought putting someone else’s carbuncle in a goose would work
When someone mentions the occupation of detective, a single image usually comes to mind, a man wearing a cape and deerstalker, holding a magnifying glass and smoking a pipe. This entire image can be contributed to one character: Sherlock Holmes. Holmes is considered by many to be the greatest detective to ever exist, even if he only exists in the pages of books and on movie and television screens. It is impossible to escape the influence of Holmes. Countless references are made to him in all types of media and he is used as an inspiration to may more fictional characters we have all grown to love. The cultural impact of Sherlock Holmes has spread to more than just fiction; Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s
