The civil war was a very terrible and bloody time in our history. Some people think the civil war was inevitable but the war was not inevitable. It was inevitable because slavery was going to split the nation no matter what. When slavery came into the nation, lots of people liked and disliked slavery. From the beginning, it was going to be a big argument. Leading up to the civil war, there were democrats and republicans. After slavery started splitting the nation, a new party was formed. This party was called the free soil party. The free soil party was made up of people who did not like slavery and wanted to stop it. The free soil party was definitely hated by the south. This was a main cause of the civil war. Once there were several other
The Civil War was caused by the economics of slavery and the political control of that system, specifically being states’ rights on the federal powers of the government, the territorial expansion of the united states that led to the division of the two sides, and the election of President Abraham Lincoln which was the final event that sent the nation to war.
The Civil War was caused by many several pressures, principles, and prejudices, fueled by sectional differences, and was finally set into motion by a most unlikely set of political events. From economic differences to political differences all the way up to cultural differences, the North and the South opposed each other. These tensions were further increased after the western expansion of the United States. By the early 1850’s a civil war was known to be likely coming soon.
The American Civil War was unavoidable. Because of regional and political disputes the country would have continued to boil even if the extremists on both sides were kept under control. No matter what was done politically a conflict was necessary to eradicate slavery from this continent.
The Civil war was not inevitable; it was the result of extremism and failures of leadership on both sides. This war was long forthcoming; we see this conflict as a nation divided or as Lincoln put it a house divided (Doc 4). It was a conflict between pro-slavery southerners and anti-slavery northerners. Both sides felt strongly about their position, leading to neither side backing down. However, this war could have been avoided through a compromise of stronger leadership and less extremism.
In the 1800s, Northerners and Southerners of America fought in a gruesome war to try to end the argument of slavery once and for all. The newly developed country had fought about it for years in terms of geographical, political, and economical issues. However, by the 1860’s the dispute between the North and South had been narrowed down to a very specific foundation – morality. According to the Merriam- Webster dictionary the definition of morality is “beliefs about what is right behavior and what is wrong behavior.” Both the North and the South felt they were morally correct, which is why the civil war was inevitable because neither side could have been satisfied with a geographical or political arrangement. No person or things could change the way the people felt morally – so compromises and physical arrangements would not have an effect on what they believed was ethical. This is the main reason why the civil war was truly started – despite the events that may have shown it to be from an economical or political standpoint. Although some believed that the Civil War was caused by dispute over geographical, political or economical issues, it was really an issue of the North and South both believing that they were morally correct.
In my opinion, the main cause the civil war is the Economic Factors. As a popular saying goes: interests above everything else. In my opinion, the slave was the most important for the South, because the South was the farmers plantation economy, they need a lot of slaves. When the North and Lincoln against the slavery and wanted to abolish, exactly, which will threaten the South benefits. Maybe there were not any good ways to solve the South difficult rather than war. Basically, there is nobody want to war, sometimes war can solve many difficulty problems deeply. Obviously, the US Civil War was the elimination of slavery, emancipation of slaves and makes America from division to unity. Everything has two sides. If you have seen the film called Saving Private Ryan. You will know war is horrible. In this movie, soldiers died by bomb or killed by the enemy. The river became red by their blood. War is evil. What I want say is if there is good way to solve problem than war, absolutely, we will not choose war. War is a sharp way to solve every problems, war just causes more problems to civilian, every sensible person knows that, I guess that means
In conclusion we had a civil war because of slavery, sectionalism and compromises. Slavery was the big cause because the North said free and South said never!! But then that is what caused sectionalism and the North said better economy and South said never. Then compromises and the North said Never and the South said forever. But then the South later paid for it. The South was not right to secede from anything at
The Civil War was the second most brutal war in the history of the great country of the United States. The Civil War started in December 1860 after president Abraham Lincoln had run for president. The Confederates believed that the new president would change the Federal view on slavery. John Crittenden had made a proposal to divide the United States at the 36° longitude line, and the North of the line would be slavery free and the South would be anything goes. The Confederates thought this proposal was unfair, and they reacted a little bit. But the question is, ‘Could the Civil War have been avoided?’ The answer is no. We would be a country divided in two because of: (1. Slavery; (2. Political
The Civil War was inevitable in many reasons. The economic and industrial evolution was mainly in the North side of the United States while the South was just a cotton kingdom, Slave Empire. Also both were completely opposites of one another when it was about freeing the slaves or hiring more. With many debates there has to be sides that would be separated especially if the president has so much hate from the people. With that being said, since many want opposing ideas, the Civil War becomes much evitable.
There is no doubt, that the Civil War was unavoidable, and deserving of a name such as “an irrepressible conflict”. One of the most central issues that lead up to the Civil War was slavery. Slavery has continued to be an issue throughout United States history ever since the Constitution. And the conflict with slavery will later on develop into more problems and events within the country. Some may say that the Civil War could have been prevented. However, because of westward expansion, Abraham Lincoln becoming elected as president, and the Battle of Fort Sumter the Civil War became officially inevitable.
In my opinion I think the Civil War was inevitable. With the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 southerners began preparations to secede from the Union. Southerners felt with the ending of slavery this would bring their survival to an end. They depended on slavery as a way to run their plantations and had a lot of money invested in their land and slaves. With the North’s feelings growing for anti-slavery and slaves who were fugitives being protected by them the South felt they had no choice. The North ignored the fugitive slave laws and did not return the South’s property back to them. The states which had no slaves did not recognize the Constitution and the South felt the government was not working for them but against them.
The Civil War was inevitable. There are many reasons why the Civil War inevitable. It was inevitable because the people were acting petty. The northerners were committing voter fraud in Kansas and raiding military warehouses. The southerners weren’t much better, they created the Fugitive Slave Act.
The civil war was inevitable, only however, after one key event; the cotton gin made the civil war inevitable. The invention of the cotton gin in 1793 was the key element which enabled the south to have sufficient vested interest in their traditional lifestyle in order to feel the need to defend it at all costs even from their Northern countrymen. The core argument of this essay centres around the evidence which clearly defines their being in existence two nations' with in America constantly in opposition to each other. Therefore the growth of sectionalism and the events which led up to the conflict made war an inevitable outcome of the hostilities which had arisen from the to ideologically
The civil war was mainly sparked by tensions between the north and the south. Both sides rarely agreed on topics and could never make a compromise. Slavery was a big reason for the start of the civil war, but the causes don’t end there. Although some may say that political or economic reasons started the civil war between the north and the south, political reasons were the real cause. This is because of important decisions made by the government, and the south seceding.
The American Revolution marked significant changes in the political, social, and economic status of the Americans. For a long, time the lives of the Americans were darkened by the British colonial rule. The British government passed several intolerable Acts. For instance, the Massachusetts Government Act was a restriction to town meetings. As a result, the American opponents began collective actions to disapprove the colonial rule. After a long struggle, the Americans overthrew the existing rule. However, the new dawn did not provide freedom to all citizens. The slaves were compelled to continue supplying forced labor to the Whites. The resultant effect of oppression pushed the slaves to start fighting for the equality. In this case, it is evident that the Civil War was a direct consequence of the American Revolution.[1]
