Your money doesn’t control you, you control your money. Although some people might not have as much money as others money will still play a big part of their life. In the novel The Great Gatsby Jay Gatsby says, "I was in the drug business and then I was in the oil business" (Fitzgerald 95). While Gatsby was in those businesses he became known as a bootlegger and that is how he attained all of his money. Once he became wealthy he moved to the East egg and he began throwing huge parties for anybody that wanted to come. His 'wild parties' costed one hundred dollars in 1923 and that would now equal two thousand three hundred and nineteen dollars. The budget for a family of two was one hundred fifty dollars per month. The food was thirty dollars
