Police should wear body cameras to help protect themselves and the laws they serve. Police are sworn to protect and serve the public. These devices serve no other purpose than to monitor officer’s doing their job. There has been lots of talk about police wearing body cameras. It is best that body cameras should be provided with their uniforms. Having police departments using cameras adds benefits, when they know they are being watched, they will be less likely to act up and use force. With the use of cameras we also benefit from many unknown deaths cameras will help general security and citizens from police miss conduct. One officer testified that when he asked the driver to produce his license and registration, he smelled marijuana and directed the suspect to leave the car and stand by the trunk as the vehicle was searched. Officers found nearly a pound of marijuana in a back pack in the back seat of the car. The driver was then arrested. The suspect testified that he used his turn signal, was never asked for his license and registration, the marijuana was not in a back pack on the back seat of the car but was hidden under the seat. Then the suspect’s lawyer got lucky. He subpoenaed and obtained a video that had been recorded automatically by the police car which the police witness must have for gotten about. The video showed that immediately after being stopped, the suspect was removed from his car, frisked, and hand cuffed. The search of the car was after the arrest. The judge found that all five officers had lied and engaged in ‘outrageous conduct’ she called it a conspiracy to lie and suppressed both the arrests the fruits of the search.
