The Curse Of King Tuts Tomb In 1922 Howard Carter of Swaffham, Norfolk discovered the Tomb of King Tutankhamen. One of the greatest archeological finds to date. Joined by the British lord, Carnarvon they finally ventured into the tomb in February of 1923. What they found in the inside of the tomb was astounding. His vast tomb seemed to capture a moment in time by holding countless priceless pieces of art, and wealth (Hutchinson Encyclopedia of Biography, 2000). But the Tomb seemed to hold other secrets besides glittering treasures. Even before Carter entered the Tomb speculation and mystery permeated throughout the legend of the tomb. For a while it seemed like there was no curse after all but soon people would come to the conclusion that this would seem to be false. The first death was that of Howard's friend and colleague Lord Carnarvon. He was bitten by a mosquito and accidentally cut it while shaving causing it to get infected and kill him (Curse of the Pharaohs, 2017). unmuseum.org says that "Legend has it that when he died there was a short power failure and all the lights throughout Cairo went out"( Carter and the Curse of King Tuts Tomb, N.D). I have found no other accounts of this, but it seemed like an interesting story and would help build the speculation of the tale. If this actually did happen it might only be a mere coincidence or random power failure
