In 2011 I decided upon a career change away from a fast paced sales environment and towards my ambition of becoming a teacher. Since leaving school in 1997 I worked for a small family run architectural hardware company. In my final role with the company my main duties included travelling the country giving seminars to architects and building contractors. It was during the development and delivery of these seminars that I realised I had a passion for teaching. The development of my industry based presentations was thorough and took into account the differing abilities and background of my audience. With constantly shifting standards and regulations, Power Point presentations to create for each session and handouts for the individuals in attendance …show more content…
To support my family I worked part time in a call centre and I began my own online business selling hardware and accessories on eBay; this has became quite a success and is still provides me with a small income to this day. Shortly after graduation there was another addition to my family and I am now the proud father of three young boys. Since January 2015 I have been working alongside Winter-Moore Education. In the last six months I have trained over 350 staff to provide high levels of customer service in their various positions with a marketing company called Rainmaker Marketing. My initial training for these individuals was developed around the requirements of their employer and the requirements of Winter-Moore Education's NVQ programme. I provided educational support to up to 100 potential apprentices aged 16 to 24, aiding their progression on to an NVQ course. I set up group workshops and hosted one to one sessions teaching basic English and mathematics for the functional skills tests many of them had to pass before beginning the NVQ. The majority of these apprentices, especially the 16 to 17 year olds, were using this opportunity as an alternative to college. It was an eye opener for me how underprepared for life outside of school some of …show more content…
In reflection the impact that role models and teachers have upon children and young adults is beyond measure, I will strive to become the best role model I can be in order to make a difference to my students. I've had two successful placements volunteering with children of mixed ages. During my time with Orchard Day nursery I was able to gain experience working alongside various members of nursery staff and after school staff. I also worked directly with children from infants and toddlers right up to 13-14 year olds in the after school clubs. I experienced for the first time how challenging these different age groups can be, however through strategic planning I was able to keep the children engaged and interested in both the play activities and educational activities I had set for them. Dealing with confrontational children and diffusing situations was at first something I had not envisaged myself being able to deal with, however, when an argument arose during after school club I was able to use my excellent communicative skills and draw upon my vast managerial experience applying myself in a calm professional manner in order to ensure everyone was happy. I also volunteered at Childwall Church of England Primary School and I was assigned to helping out some of the
My role as a nursery teacher at Zeeba Daycare can have a very big impact on the development of children in my classroom. It is well known that children often observe what others do and many times will imitate actions they have observed, so it is very important that I set a good example and be a good role model as I could set a good foundation for the development of a child’s behaviour and morals. It is important to teach children that all people are important and valuable, no matter what their gender, race, ability or background is and that it is important to respect and support others that are different to us. Therefore I can affect their development in many good ways by
SC received a telephone call on 10/16/2015 stared 9:34 and end at 9:41 am from Tricia Crooks at Liberty Resources Home Choices (LRHC) Community Outreach and Enrollment Leader. Stating that she spoke Pa and he wants to resume his service order with LRHC for PAS service. SC informed SC that this information will first need to verify with Pa. SC expressed concerns about LRHC being able to fulfill service since they had the case unstaffed for over two weeks (09/25/15-10/15/2015). Tricia apologized on behalf of LRHC, and stated that they have someone assigned and is ready to go all is needed is the resumed service order ASAP. SC again explained to Tricia that Pa has to confirm this besides Pa was very adamant about switching provider because the

We really appreciate all the work that has been done by your team in order for the 8.8.1 upgrade to go into production. Enrollment Services has really put in a lot of time and effort to understand the process, create the test plans, and walk through individual accounts in PRVW in order to make sure we will be able to report accurate data to NSLDS. I am sure I will still have some questions until that final file is submitted but I am confident we will be able to provide accurate and on-time information by July 31st. This last week Sam, Monica, Snow, and Liz worked many hours with us and for us to get this accomplished. They are amazing! We understand that you all have many projects and daily operations in motion. Yet, still made adjustments
To begin with, part of my job is to write or compose programming code which is systematically on it's own. Provided that, as part of the team conducted the measurement. The project that I can think of as the most broad case where we applied a scientific method throughout the organization was the search for proper and efficient solution to handle incoming support request sent to the IT department. Prior to implementing the ticketing system, IT support request are posted via email through an email group that includes all members of the IT department. This has been the standard procedure for years, it has worked well and preferred by many staff. That said, our organization has hired several employees, redefined departments and increase individual

For the past two years I’ve been working for a company where transportation has a big impact on the success of my company. Having to solve problems with the transportation of the materials in the company, has helped me find a new passion for the transportation industry. My abilities allow me to simplify a problem, so I can come up with an easy solution. It is essential to have a friendly and understanding personality, when working in this industry. People with transportation issues are looking for individuals to listen to their problem, in hopes they can find a simply solution that keeps them still of schedule. For me working in the transportation industry, the value of teamwork is at the top. Being able to come together with an other coworker, to solve a problem is what builds company morale.
Have you ever felt unappreciated in a job? Do you feel on edge that at any given moment you could be replaced? Or has someone you are supposed to trust to put down your efforts? An effective leader should make sure you aren't left wondering these questions. I have worked in the special education department at a high school for three years under the guidance of the principal. During that time I have not been told that I am doing a good job or given any recognition. I am not alone because the majority of the department share the same feelings. Instead of mentoring us into the type of employees he desires he makes these negative comments. With no justification, since he rarely takes time to visit our classrooms, he has called us a “toxic department” and has repeatedly said “we should just start with a clean slate”. In the beginning I tried to approach him however, he

In a role as a professional adult working with children you will need to remember that you need to be a positive role model for children, this means you will have to show them how to communicate and get along with others at all times through your own relationships and communications with other adults and children. It is very important for children to see adults behaving appropriately and proffesionally in schools. We build relationships with others daily in a diffrnt number of ways children will always respond positively to positive communication and realtionships they are more likely wanting to be in schools and to learn if they have good relationships and are supported by adults around them who get along with each other.
Solutions Oriented – Standardly asking what others think, I have confidence asking what you would do. Examining data and scenarios is helpful, but exhausting effort to deliver results in a strategic plan provides vision. My roommate and I studied supply chain management, consistently allowing us to craft our own decisions regarding the issue of efficiency among our assignments. Developing strategies which could be implemented and altered depending on variation exhibited greater success and less disturbances. Evaluating evidence is critical, although I find that a tactical approach with future forethought generates value.
Reflection: Think about what type of portfolio you desire. Do not rush at this step because the more time you spend at this first step, the easier your job will be to effectively complete. Questions like: Is my portfolio for a potential employer?; Is my portfolio for my family to view?; or Is my portfolio for acceptance in an educational institution? are probing enough to help you to zoom in on what you want to accomplish. Once the vision of your audience is firmly established, you will have a mission statement.
One of the most important aspects of teaching young children is for them to have good role models in adults. They need adults to set a good example and provide opportunities for interaction with others so that they can develop clear positive ideas about themselves and others. However, it is fundamental that before we can ask young children to empathise with others, early years practitioners need to understand children’s feelings and be able to see things from their point of view.
