The Hunger Games movie and book aren’t as similar as you think they are. The first difference that I could pull out is that the movie is in third person point of view while the story is in first person point of view. More specifically, the movie shows scenes that are not present in the book, while in the book, Katniss narrates only to her knowledge. For example, in the movie, it showed a scene of President Snow and Seneca Crane talking in a garden located in the Capitol. This scene was not included in the novel, for Katniss was not present in this scene, so she could not narrate what occurs. I believe that the movie does this, so that the audience has more context and understanding of the plot. Another contrast from the movie and the novel
There are many things to compare and contrast in the hunger games book and the movie. When
The characters needs and wants are met throughout the movie in different ways. The people in the districts need food. They obtain this food by working in the coal mines and in return they receive rations. The Capital need the people in the districts to work hard to generate coal. The government make different districts to to focus on the most valuable resources like oil, coal and others. They implemented this concept so obtaining raw materials would be cheap for them. In exchange they would be given other resources which are replenishable and easy for them to make. The revolutionary war in Panem forces the people in the districts to treat their government like gods just to have a meager survival. The war caused chaos and conflict causing the
Love can affect the decision a person makes. One major aspect the over in both the book and the movie is the stress that Katniss goes through by not making decision that might kill her family. In the book, Katniss is accounted by President Snow and is threaten to not make decisions that will spark a rebellion. More than half the book includes the conflict of rebellion unlike the movie which more than half of the movie is focusing on the Games. Because the movie did not focus on the rebellion, the viewer don’t fully understand why President Snow is attacking Katniss.
There were also many differences between these two books. At first Tessie didn't know she was the one that was going to be the one getting “stoned to death” literally; but when Katniss volunteered to take Prim's place in the Hunger Games, she knew that she was risking her life. Tessie wasn't prepared for the stoning, whereas Katniss was put into training and could defend herself is she were attacked. These two books are different because The Hunger Games is more of a young adult book, and “The
Another difference in the novel that’s significant is the Mockingjay pin that is given to Katniss by Madge, the Governor’s daughter once it’s known that Katniss will be participating in the Hunger Games. Madge is described as one of the few people that Katniss is semi-friendly with; otherwise she is described as a loner who only has time to do what she has to do to take care of her family. This comes as a surprise to Katniss, who had assumed that Madge disliked her. This is an important piece of the book because in the movie, Katniss finds the same Mockingjay pin at the local flea market, and it is given to her by the owner, a woman named Greasy Sae. The significance of the pin is never explained in the movie, and viewers are left wondering if it will play an important role later on in the film. The director and author make many subtle, yet evident changes between the novel and film, which can only be noticed if one reads the novel and views the movie. However, those that have are left questioning why the changes were made, and what to expect next.
In the both narratives, humanity is lost because of the evil that lives within all people. In Lord of the Flies, one of the boys, Roger, giggles when a younger boy is beaten by their Chief, Jack (Golding 176). The physical abuse takes place without reason, demonstrating the cruelty of the boys for not only taking pleasure in another’s pain, but also encouraging Jack to continue with his ill treatment of the boys. In like manner, the annual hunger game is a battle among the districts, in which they are pitted against one other until the last victor remains (The Hunger Games). The game is arranged by the Capital, and the citizens and gamemakers enjoy watching the tributes get killed by disaster, starvation and violence for the sake of entertainment. Both stories involve people being entertained by watching others become injured or killed, affirming them to be savages. Also, when the fire that was started by Jack’s tribe was used to smoke Ralph out of the forest to kill him, it exposes the boys as savages. In The Hunger Games, the gamemakers use fire to reposition Katniss in order to kill her, hurting her in the process. Although fire is necessary in keeping characters from both narratives alive, its purpose is skewed to hurt others, rather than to help them survive. Also, both the film and the novel illustrate human instinct of how people follow and conform to the powerful with control over others. In The Hunger Games, Peeta associates himself with the tributes from District 2, because he is aware that they are the strongest and most powerful above all the other tributes. So, he pretends to be affiliated with Cato’s group, since his chances of survival are far greater with the group than with Katniss . Also, in Lord of the Flies, all the boys abandon Ralph, because of the decline of civilization, which has leads to the empowering of Jack’s chaotic society.
Mockingjay is the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss has just recently escape from her second Hunger Games after causing the arena to explode.
After watching the movie and reading the book “The Hunger Games”,there is many similarities. There is also similarities
Last night when I was at home I had a chance to watch To Kill a Mockingbird, directed by Robert Mulligan. The movie takes place in a small town where the whites treat black people differently. The main character is Atticus. Atticus is a well-known lawyer in town. He is asked to defend Tom Robinson, who has been accused of raping a white girl. The evidence is in Tom’s favor but he has no chance to win the case because he is a black man. Tom cannot accept the guilt. He tries to escape from prison. Finally, he gets shot by the guard.
The Hunger Games and The Road are popular books, but why did they become popular and what makes them popular? Many people bought these two books and have said that they can not put them down. Could it be because they both have an apocalypse element in them, death is heavily implied, companionship is heavily involved, and there is a lot of action and suspense involved in these books. First question that needs to be answered why would having an apocalypse element or theme in the story make the book good to read? To show why people enjoy apocalyptic scenarios or trying to survive in a new world, there are shows such as The Walking Dead and movies such as World War Z. Now there are no zombies in The Road or The Hunger Games but they all have an apocalypse or end of the world scenario where the people have to adapt to the new world and it is not pretty.
Both “The Hunger Games” book and movie were very amazing and interesting with a lot of imagery details and descriptions. They also gave several examples of conflicts, such as man vs. man, man vs. society, man vs. technology, man vs. self, and man vs.nature. While they share so many wonderful aspects, they also have plentiful differences and similarities. Similarities between the film and the novel of “The Hunger Games”, vary in many kinds of ways. Such as in the characters, settings, actions, and descriptions.
The film focuses on Katniss Everdeen, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence, who volunteers in her sister’s position as she is chosen to compete in the Hunger Games. The characters, events, and the writers’ ability to translate the words into picture make the movie a successful adaptation for the highly awarded novel. One of the hardest aspects of adapting a book to a movie is to find actors who can properly portray the characters. The characters in both the book and movie versions of The Hunger Games are quite similar. While casting for the movie, the creators kept the physical descriptions in mind as they hired Jennifer Lawrence to play the lead role of Katniss Everdeen.
Another detailed difference is that the program, from Battle Royale was not televised. This project is kept under wraps, and is supposedly top secret (however, in a manga of the story, written by the same author, it is concluded that The Program was, also, broadcast as a warning and reminder). The actual Hunger Games, in the movie and book, are very widely broadcast. It is such a huge network ordeal that the showing of these games is equivalent to the modern day viewership of the Super Bowl. The final difference here is the fact that Battle Royale sets a precedent of gore that The Hunger Games cannot compete with.

"The Hunger Games" is a science fiction novel written by the American author Suzanne Collins that was published in 2008. A film adaptation directed by Gary Ross was released in 2012. Although some movie adaptations differ greatly from the original stories presented in the books, this adaptation follows the plot development in an unusually detailed manner. However, certain changes were made that influence our perception of the movie.
