Hurricane Matthew leaves severe damage along its path. Hurricane Matthew destroyed Haiti and South east counties of U.S. since October 4, 2016. Picture is showing Hurricane Matthew’s path. On October 4, 2016, Hurricane Matthew smashed through Haiti with 145 mile-per-hour winds and heavy rain. It killed almost a thousand people and left ten thousands of homeless before it skirted northward to the Florida Atlantic’s coastal and the coast of Georgia. Matthew striked the coast of Florida with 120 mile-per-hour winds and on 7 October 2016, Matthew moved to the coastal of Georgia. The emergencies were declared in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Most people took the warnings seriously and evacuated to the safer ground.
The people of New Orleans, Louisiana believed that it would be a storm like any other, nothing to set this Hurricane apart from the others that they had dealt with over their lives living in their beloved city below sea level. Unfortunately, that proved to not be the case and indeed it would be a storm they would remember for the rest of their lives.
The hurricane packed winds up to 200 miles an hour and killed hundreds of people. Key
On August 25, 2017 around 11 P.M., businesses, houses, cars and trees were swallowed by flood waters. Debris started building up and copious amounts of water started to over flow the drainages causing dams, levees and bayous to exceed anything beyond their conceptual holdings. Areas that have never come close to flooding found themselves suddenly become "lakefront properties." The storm churned out water, lightning, and wind and went back over the gulf to start the cycle again. The destruction that Hurricane Harvey caused to my beautiful hometown Houston, Texas including a large portion of south Texas, wester Louisiana and other parts of the country has been extremely surreal. Watching the destruction of this beautiful city that I love dearly,

Some of these critical issues caused major problems then should have been addressed prior to the hurricane many land. The delay by both the Governor and Mayor led to overwhelming issues relating to evacuating. Mayor Ray Nagi refusal to give the order to evacuate, but rather use shelters to house Katrine victims from departing the area. The citizen of Louisiana was unaware of the severity of the storm and they trusted their State leader to ensure the safety of the people. When it came time to get the people out of New Orleans the chaos of the disaster made providing help extremely difficult. A week after Hurricane Matthew, a storm that struck on October third that killed hundreds of people and forced thousands from their homes, the relief effort is finally gaining steam in Haiti, with the flow of food and medicine increasing to cities that will serve as hubs for desperate outlying villages. As Hurricane Matthew passes, Haitians are struggling with Cholera, an infectious disease that can be deadly and is transmitted through contaminated water or food and that's not the end of their problems. Haiti is in a long political crisis and during this national emergency the government has failed to act accordingly instead depending on foreign donors. Haiti still haven't finished their election, which is predicted to start again soon to have a stable leader in this time of need instead
Hurricane Matthew affected our community, because of the mass destruction it left on the outskirts of Florida’s island. Matthew left the community with no electricity for the course of six days, and rained down on us with water which flooded our roads ,But the worst thing Matthew did to us was many deaths it caused while traveling through the Caribbean islands, and then leaving the people with grief. Buildings roof was ripped off because of the strong winds, community installed shutters or forced evacuated, because of the fear that was exaggerated on news that Matthew will destroy their beloved homes and even deaths if we didn’t run away from it.
Saturday, September 9, 2017, Hurricane Irma is raging in and around Florida, and because of the risks of dispatching, rescue workers are not able to respond to 9-1-1 calls. The winds are up to 105 mph and the water is literally being sucked from the gulf shores of Florida by the strong storm. CNN writes in their news article, “Frustrated First Responders Have to Ignore Irma 911 Calls,” reflecting on the struggles of the victims and first responders in the devastating storm.
I personally have not experienced a disaster. However, I have heard about a lot of megadealths from the media. The most recent is Hurricane Matthew. Hurricane Matthew affected the Caribbean, Florida and North Carolina. It is known that hundreds of people have died and over one thousand people remain without houses and clean water in Haiti, four people have died and one million people lost power in Florida and seven people have died, about 760,000 people still remain without power and over 880 people had to be rescued in North Carolina. I am sadden by the destruction that this hurricane has caused. I have a lot of friends in Florida and a lot of family in North Carolina all whom are safe. It took a couple of days to ensure everyone was safe.
Hurricane Matthew tore through the southeastern United States, leaving thousands of people homeless and without the necessities to live. Lumberton, North Carolina and the surrounding areas in Robeson county experienced some of the worst flooding because the levees holding the water back from the Lumber River broke. Many families lost everything from their homes, personal belongings and even loved ones. As the student body President at Lumberton High School, I have been working with organizations such as the Red Cross and United Ways to help collect and distribute clothes, school supplies and other necessities to students affected by the flooding. I am currently working with our Student Government Association to coordinate the pickup and transport
At its peak, Hurricane Matthew was a Category 5 hurricane from September 30 to October 1 with a strength of 260 mph. Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti and eastern Cuba as a Category 4, the Bahamas as a Category 3 and 4, and along southeastern United States on the coasts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
The strongest, costliest and deadliest storm of the season was Hurricane Matthew, the southernmost Category 5 Atlantic hurricane on record, and the first Category 5 hurricane to form in the Atlantic since Felix in 2007. With up to 1,659 deaths attributed to it, Hurricane Matthew was the deadliest Atlantic hurricane since Stan of 2005. Following the development of Hurricane Nicole, which reached major hurricane status, it was the first time that two Category 4 or stronger hurricanes had formed in the month of October, with the other being Hurricane Matthew.[2] When Nicole became a major hurricane, this season was the first to have more than two major hurricanes since 2011. Unusually late activity occurred in this season as well, with the formation
This editorial was drafted by the Los Angeles Times editorial board. The article is in response to the horrible events happening in Texas regarding Hurricane Harvey. In recent years the people of the United States have been disconnected. Whether it’s political views, racial views, religious views, or even sometimes jealousy. This editorial makes it clear that at time like this, there are no “red” or “blue” states. California and Texas are merely opposite states, no matter what the argument may be, if its capital punishment, gun restrictions, gay marriage, you can usually find these two states going toe to toe. The point the board is trying to make is, no matter how separated we are, or how much we dislike one another, it is time to set those
In late August, Tropical Storm Isaac hit Haiti with rains and winds causing flooding and mudslides. Though the tropical storm did not cause widespread damage as initially feared, it was still a large obstacle for a nation still recovering.
